Doctors' responses
Swelling of both the liver and spleen, along with recent hospitalization and persistent symptoms, suggests the need for immediate medical evaluation. It’s crucial to determine the underlying causes, as these could be symptoms of a more significant condition requiring prompt attention. The engorged spleen and liver might be due to various factors like infections (e.g., viral hepatitis), dietary intake, or lifestyle patterns.
In Ayurveda, such conditions often point to an imbalance, particularly in Pitta dosha, which governs metabolism and digestion. This imbalance can lead to inflammation, which may be manifesting as an enlarged spleen and liver. The bruise could also reflect a Pitta imbalance, potentially accompanied by Kapha aggravation (related to swelling).
Dietary modifications can be instrumental. Emphasize a Pitta-pacifying diet, avoiding spicy, fried, and overly fatty foods. Focus on cooling, soothing foods like cucumbers, melons, and green leafy vegetables. Drink aloe vera juice daily, around 20-25ml with a bit of turmeric on an empty stomach, which may aid liver function. Ensure you’re consuming enough water throughout the day to maintain hydration and support detoxification.
Moreover, implement daily self-care practices such as gentle yoga postures which enhance abdominal circulation without straining. Avoid strenuous activities that can exacerbate your symptoms. Practicing specific pranayama (breathing exercises) like Sheetali can further help cool down body and pacify Pitta.
As you engage in these practices, however, it’s very important to remain in touch with your healthcare provider for further investigations. The integration of modern medical follow-ups alongside Ayurvedic practices ensure a comprehensive approach to your health. If symptoms like pain or swelling worsen, professional medical evaluation is necessary to prevent complications.
