FOR LICHEN SCLEROSIS,

Lichen sclerosis is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that causes white, shiny patches, itching, burning, and skin thinning, most commonly in the genital and anal area, but sometimes. on other parts of the body too It’s not contagious, but can be long lasting and may flare up over time

COMMON SYMPTOMS -white, patchy, thin ,wrinkled skin -especially around genital area -itchingespecially at night -burning or pain especially durning urination or sexual activity -skin tears or bleeding -tightness or scarring in severe cases

In Ayurveda, lichen sclerosis is not named directly but it resembles conditions like -kandu (itching skin disorder) -shvitra (depigmentation disorders) -vata-kapha Pradhan twak vikara- skin diseases caused by vata and kapha imbalance

DOSHA INVOLVEMENT -VATA-> causes dryness, thinning, cracking, and pain -KAPHA-> causes thickening and white patches -PITTA-> causes burning, redness and inflammation

ROOT CAUSES -autoimmune reaction -body attacks its own skin cells -hormonal imbalance -chronic stress or trauma -poor digestion -> buildup of toxins -vata-kapha-pitta imbalance due to lifestyle and diet

TREATMENT GOALS -detoxify body channels and remove ama (toxins) -balance vata, pitta, and kapha -purify blood and reduce inflammation -strengthen immunity and prevent recurrence

EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS

1) JATYADI TAILA= apply gentle on clean area twice daily =heals cracks, ulcers and anti itching

After finishing BAMS, I got into this one-year certificate course at Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, Delhi—honestly a turning point. I was super lucky to learn Kerala Ayurveda from my Guru, Prof. Dr. G.G. Gangadharan. He’s got this way of seeing things... simple but deep. That time with him taught me more than any textbook ever could. It kinda reshaped how I look at health, healing n how precise Ayurveda can be when you respect its roots. Right now I’m doing my MD in Panchakarma from SDM Ayurveda College, Bangalore. This place is like a hub for serious Ayurveda work. The Panchakarma training here? Super intense. We go deep into detoxification & rasayana therapy—not just theory again, but hands-on. I’m learning to blend classical techniques with today’s clinical demands.. like how to make Vamana or Basti actually doable in modern patient setups. My current practice is really about merging tradition with logic. Whether it’s chronic skin issues, gut problems, stress burnout or hormone stuff—my goal is to get to the root, not just hush the symptoms. I use Panchakarma when needed, but also a lot of ahara-vihara tweaks, medhya herbs, sometimes just slowing ppl down a bit helps. I really believe Ayurveda’s power is in its simplicity when done right. I don’t try to fix ppl—I work *with* them. And honestly, every patient teaches me something back.

I am working in Ayurveda for about 2 years now, mainly around gynecological problems, which I honestly feel are way more common than most people realise. I see a lot of women struggling silently with issues like irregular periods, cramps that just don’t stop, mood swings, PCOS kind of symptoms... sometimes they come in after trying a bunch of stuff already n nothing really works long-term. That’s where I try to bring in a more rooted approach. I use a mix of Ayurvedic principles, dietetics (like food based on dosha & body type etc), and yoga therapy to manage these conditions. It’s not just about reducing pain during periods or balancing hormones—it’s more like trying to understand what’s causing the imbalances in the first place. I spend time trying to map the prakriti-vikriti profile and see how stress, food, daily habits are impacting the cycle. I don’t rush things, coz honestly healing isn't linear and doesn't follow some fixed timeline. And not everyone wants to jump into panchakarma straightaway either, right? Also pain management is a big part of my work. Whether it’s period cramps or pelvic pain, or even chronic stuff tied to digestion and fatigue, I look at how we can ease that naturally. Sometimes through simple things like castor oil packs, or subtle shifts in routine, other times I may recommend herbs or formulations. Yoga plays a huge role too, esp. when the body feels stuck or inflamed. Not gym-style yoga, more therapeutic.. breath n movement syncing with dosha correction, that kind of thing. To be honest, I’m still learning—Ayurveda’s depth is huge, and I feel like I’m just getting started. But what I do know is, when I see women begin to trust their own body’s rhythm again, that’s really powerful. Makes all the effort worth it. Even small relief matters. It's not perfect, sometimes things take longer, sometimes we need to adjust mid-way... but it's real.

I am Dr. Shivanshu Sharma, an Ayurveda physician with main focus on preventive cardiology and lifestyle related disorders, which slowly became the center of my clinical interest. I completed my BAMS from Vaidya Yagya Dutt Sharma Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya, Khurja, affiliated to CCS University, where I build a solid base in classical Ayurveda along with practical clinical exposure to many medical conditions. Those early years shaped how I look at chronic disease today, sometimes in simple ways, sometimes more complex. To strengthen my work in heart health, I completed a Certificate Course in Preventive Cardiology from the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur. This training helped me understand cardiovascular risk assesment, early detection of high risk individuals, and holistic management of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity and metabolic syndrome using Ayurvedic principles mixed with modern preventive cardiology ideas. The balance is not always easy, but it feels necessary. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Max Society of Medical Academics Innovation and Research (MSMAIR), which adds a broader public health and evidence informed angle to my clinical thinking. I try to look beyond symptoms, focusing on long term prevention, lifestyle correction and patient awareness. Learning still feels ongoing, sometimes slow, but it keeps my practice grounded and real.
