Doctors' responses
Your husband condition shows that the stomach infection stress metabolism and heart health are all connected and need to be handled together gently and patiently The antibiotics will help reduce the infection load but the stomach lining and digestion need healing support during and after the course otherwise pain acidity bloating and weakness can continue
For the stomach infection and abdominal pain Amla powder half teaspoon twice daily with warm water after food
Mulethi powder one fourth teaspoon twice daily mixed in warm water before food
Aloe vera juice twenty ml twice daily on empty stomach
Avipattikara churna half teaspoon twice daily before meals
For cholesterol blood pressure and sugar balance
Garlic two small raw cloves soaked overnight and taken in the morning
Fenugreek seeds one teaspoon soaked overnight and taken in the morning with water Triphala guggulu 1 tablet twice daily after food
For anxiety panic attacks and mental exhaustion Ashwagandha root powder one teaspoon at night with warm milk Medha vati 1 tablet twice daily after food with warm water
Avoid fried food ,sugar ,bakery items ,packaged food ,soft drinks coffee ,alcohol , spicy food and late night eating Avoid eating in stress or while working Prefer warm freshly cooked simple food Rice or millet soft cooked vegetables bottle gourd pumpkin carrot ridge gourd
Homemade curd in small quantity at lunch Pomegranate ,apple ,papaya in moderation Use cow ghee daily
Wake up early and sleep before eleven Eat meals at fixed times Walk for thirty minutes daily after dinner Practice slow deep breathing for ten minutes morning and night Reduce screen time at night
Healing will not be instant but with three to six weeks of consistent diet routine and herbal support pain, anxiety ,cholesterol ,sugar and pressure will start settling together
Thanks doctor for the detailed response. Wanted to check about ashwagandha taken with milk, can he take with any plant based milk as he is told to avoid dairy.
Also for the fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight does only it’s water needs to be consumed or seeds with water needs to be consumed next day.
It should be taken warm so plant based you cannot heat , so better take with warm water R just with 50 ml warm milk he can take Soaked methi seeds to be chewed n then drink that water
Thanks. Also about millets, which millets can be taken like polished or unpolished and how to prepare them. Do they need to be overnight soaked or can be pressure cooked on the same day. Also do they need to be consumed fermented or can be consumed as Khichdi or porridge.
For your husband millets should be chosen and prepared gently because his stomach lining is already sensitive due to long standing abdominal pain ,infection stress and medicines
Always choose unpolished millets only Polished millets are harder and more irritating to the stomach and can increase gas bloating and pain
millets for him at this stage are little millet, foxtail millet and barnyard millet These are lighter when cooked properly and support blood sugar cholesterol and digestion Ragi and pearl millet should be avoided for now as they are heavy and heating
Millets should ideally be soaked minimum three to four hours , Do not cook millets dry without soaking as this can worsen abdominal discomfort
After soaking they can be pressure cooked on the same day Use more water and cook them till very soft almost like rice porridge Hard or separate grains are not suitable for his stomach currently
Fermentation is helpful but not compulsory If fermented millet porridge suits him it will support gut healing and immunity If fermentation causes acidity sour burping or discomfort then it should be avoided
Millets are best taken as soft khichdi or thin porridge This form is safest for healing the stomach lining calming anxiety and balancing sugar and cholesterol Dry preparations rotis or fried millet dishes should be avoided at least for now
Millets should not be eaten daily Two to three times a week is sufficient Always combine with a little ghee and well cooked vegetables This reduces dryness stress on digestion and supports nervous system balance see how his body responds
Thanks, if millets can’t be taken everyday then what could be other options looking at his sensitive stomach lining and sugar levels. Is white rice or wheat flour recommended looking at the sugar levels.
What could be other options.
Well cooked white rice can be given because it is light ,easy to digest and soothing for an irritated stomach ,he must avoid large quantities and avoid taking it at late night, dinner must be before 8 pm Hand pounded rice or red rice is better than polished rice if digestion allows but quantity matters more than type
Wheat flour can increase bloating acidity and heaviness in sensitive stomachs so it is better to reduce wheat for now or take it occasionally as soft thin rotis Other options include rice kanji ,soft rice ,porridge ,moong dal khichdi broken wheat, if it suits him and vegetable based meals
