Brown sugar is not safe for a diabetic or borderline diabetic and it is not better than white sugar Both brown sugar and white sugar raise blood glucose quickly the difference is only in color and trace minerals which are not meaningful in diabetes ,daily consumption of any form of sugar whether white brown ,jaggery ,honey ,palm sugar or country sugar should be avoided as much as possible ,If sweetness is needed occasionally ,it should come only from whole fruits taken in limited quantity and not juices.
Since your sugar levels are already above 160 this indicates the body is struggling to manage glucose and daily sugar intake will only worsen insulin resistance and nerve sensitivity especially when you are already dealing with spine and nerve related pain
Regarding wheat chapathi daily consumption it depends on quantity ,timing and digestion . Wheat chapathi especially made from refined wheat flour can raise blood sugar when taken in excess or at night .Daily intake of multiple chapathis is not ideal for a diabetic one to two small chapathis at lunch time can be taken ,if combined with vegetables ,protein and good fats .Chapathi should not be the main bulk of the meal and should not be taken at dinner. Night meals should be lighter and lower in carbohydrates.
Best grains for you are millets like foxtail millet, little millet, barnyard millet ,or hand pounded rice in small quantity .These grains release sugar slowly and support better glucose control Chapathi made of mixed flour including millet flour is better than pure wheat.
Avoid completely sugar sweets bakery items biscuits cakes fruit juices cold drinks packaged foods white bread fried snacks potatoes and excess rice Avoid eating late at night and avoid skipping meals as both disturb sugar balance
Daily walking is important, helps sugar control and circulation Adequate sleep stress control and mental calmness are equally important as stress raises sugar levels.
