Doctors' responses

Hello Steve, Thanks for reaching out! Waking up so often at night to urinate and only a tiny bit each time, must be super annoying. You’re right to think something’s up with your urine situation. YOUR CONCERN – You gotta go, like, all the time at night. – Barely anything comes out. – This has been happening for 4 days. – That bottle gourd thing isn’t helping. Sounds like your urinary tract is irritated or maybe a little infected. AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING: In Ayurveda, they’d call this Mutrakrichra or Mutraghata – basically, irritated pee flow. It happens when: – Pitta makes things burn, irritated, and inflamed. – Vata causes spasms and makes you feel like you always gotta go. – Sometimes, Kapha makes it hard to empty your bladder all the way. Even if you don’t have a fever or pain, this can still make you wake up a bunch at night to pee very little. What We Want to Do: – Calm down your bladder and pee pipes. – Get rid of any infection or irritation. – Stop you from waking up so much at night. – Keep it from turning into a full-blown UTI. AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT 1.Chandraprabha Vati: Take 2 tablet twice a day after you eat, with warm water. Calms your bladder, clears up small infections, and stops you from peeing so much. 2.Gokshuradi Guggulu: Take 2 tablet twice a day after you eat. Makes your urine pipes stronger, reduces swelling, and helps you pee normally. 3 Punarnava + Gokshura Kashaya (a plant-based drink, maybe) Drink 15–20 ml twice a day, mixed with the same amount of warm water. Flushes out infection, reduces swelling inside your bladder, and makes your kidneys and bladder work better. (If you can’t find the drink, try Punarnava Mandur pills instead – 2 pills twice a day.) HOME REMEDIES Coriander Water: –Soak 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in a glass of water overnight. –Drink it in the morning. → It cools down your bladder and fights infection. Barley Water: – Boil 1 tablespoon of barley in 1 liter of water. –Sip on it all day. Coconut Water: –Drink a glass every day – it cleans your pee system naturally. DIET PLAN Do Eat: – Rice, moong dal, bottle gourd, pumpkin – Coconut water –Buttermilk with roasted jeera – Steamed vegetables ❌ Don’t Eat: – Tea, coffee, alcohol – Spicy food – Tomatoes – Citrus fruits – Fried food – Eating late at night Things to Try at Night: – Stop drinking water 2 hours before bed. – Urine everything out before you go to sleep. – Don’t get cold. This is usually easy to fix if you catch it early. With the right Ayurvedic help, most people feel better in 3–5 days. You did the right thing by asking for help now! Hope you feel better soon and get some sleep! Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Thank you so much Dr Vidhate for replying to my concern. I have had UTI in the past and Lauki was always able to cure it but this time it did not so suspecting it might be a prostate problem, I consumed Gobi (Caulifower) and Palak (Spinach) and it seems to work very well. Now I have to wake up every 3 hours ad the discharge is in good quantity. Not sure if it is actually a prostate problem and I am definitely going to try the home remedies and ayurvedic medication you prescribed!

HELLO, In Ayurveda, frequent urination can be due to an imbalance in vata and kapha doshas, and sometimes pitta if burning or pain is present. Since you mention little urine output and nocturia, it is often linked to vata aggravation in the urination bladder -Vata prakopa-> urgency, frequent urination, sometimes with scanty urine -Kapha involvement-> feeling of incomplete emptying, heaviness in lower abdomen -Pitta involvement-> usually causes burning and reddish urine (not in your case) DIET -lauki-> good choice, light and cooling -cucumber, ash gourd, coconut water- helps reduce vata -warm, cooked meals rice, moong dal -use ghee in small amounts- stabilizes vata AVOID -cold, raw foods (e.g ice cold drinks)-> aggravates vata -excess salty, sour, or spicy foods-> can irritate bladder HYDRATION -Drink 2-3 litres warm waer/herbal teas spread through the day. Avoid drinking heavily just before bed INTERNALLT 1) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime-> supports urinary tract infection 2) PUNARNAVA KASHAYA= 20 ml with equal water after meals = diuretic, anti inflammatory 3) GOKSHURA CAPSULES= 1 cap twice daily after meals =helps strengthen bladder function, reduces frequent urination 4) MUSTA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water after meals =balancs vata LIFESTYLE -AVOID= late night cold drinks or heavy fluid intake before sleep PRACTICE -warm water sitz bath before bed> relaxes bladder and vata -abdominal massage with warm sesame oil-> calms vata -regular sleep-> maintain circadian rhythm GENTLE YOGA -baddha konasana -vajrasana -supta baddha konasana = improves pelvic and bladder circulation HOME REEMEDIES -Fenugreek water boil 1 tsp in water and drink once daily -coriander decoction soothes bladder irritation DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

-Steve, frequent nighttime urination with only a little urine could be a urinary tract infection or bladder irritation. Eating lauki won’t cure it. -Internal Medicines (Oral): 1)Chandraprabha Vati – 2 tablets, twice a day after meals with warm water 2)Gokshura powder – 5 g, with warm milk or water at night 3)varunaadi kashyap 15ml, twice a day -Diet & Lifestyle: Avoid cold drinks, ice, caffeine, and very spicy or oily foods. Drink 1.5–2 liters of warm water during the day, but reduce intake 1–2 hours before sleep. Include cooked lauki, bottle gourd, and green vegetables. Practice gentle evening walks and stress management (yoga, pranayama). - External Measures: Sit in a warm water bath (hip bath) 10–15 minutes once daily if there’s burning sensation. Duration: Usually 2–3 weeks, but must be reassessed if symptoms persist or worsen.
