Excess scalp sweating is mainly due to Pitta–Kapha imbalance. This creates Swedadhikya (excess sweating), weakens hair roots (Kesh moola), and leads to thinning. After 40, natural Dhatu kshaya (tissue depletion) also contributes. Is sweating causing hair thinning? Yes—continuous sweating Blocks hair follicles Increases scalp heat Weakens roots → hair thinning About Alum (Fitkari): Not recommended for regular scalp use. It is too drying and astringent, which can further weaken hair roots. 1. External (Scalp care) Apply Bhringraj oil / Neelibhringadi oil 3–4 times/week Weekly paste: Amla + Neem + Multani mitti (reduces sweat & heat) Wash scalp regularly to prevent sweat accumulation 2. Internal support Take Amla juice (20 ml daily) Consider Bhringraj or Brahmi supplements 3. Diet (Pitta control) Avoid: spicy, oily, fermented foods Include: coconut water, cucumber, leafy greens 4. Lifestyle Manage stress (Pranayama, meditation) Avoid excessive sun exposure Keep scalp cool and clean
Excess scalp sweating and hair thinning is mainly due to Pitta imbalance along with vitiation of Vata in the hair roots. Increased heat in the body weakens hair follicles and leads to hair fall, while sweat aggravates scalp irritation and further disturbs hair growth. –Alum is not a classical Ayurvedic remedy for this condition and may give only temporary drying effect, not root correction. —Prescription: 1. Internal medicines: -Bhringraj Ghan Vati – 2 tabs twice daily after food with lukewarm water -Amla Rasayana / Amla tablet – 2tabs twice daily -Manasmitra Vatakam – 1 tab at bedtime 2. External application: -Bhringraj Taila / Neelibhringadi Taila – apply on scalp 3–4 times/week, leave overnight -Wash with herbal shampoo (Amla/Shikakai based) 2–3 times/week 3. Lifestyle advice (Pathya): Avoid spicy, oily, fermented, and hot foods Reduce stress, adequate sleep Daily 30 min walking/yoga (esp. pranayama like Sheetali, Anulom Vilom) Avoid heat exposure, caps, and excessive sweating triggers 4. Avoid (Apathya): Excess tea/coffee, alcohol, smoking Late-night sleep Chemical hair products –Follow-up: Review after 4 weeks for response and adjustment of therapy.
