Your condition may be a form of brittle diabetes or unstable diabetes, where blood sugar suddenly becomes very high and very low without warning. Since you already had severe low sugar episodes and fainted even in the hospital, this condition needs very careful monitoring and should not be ignored. From an Ayurveda perspective, this is considered an advanced imbalance of Madhumeha with weakened Agni (metabolism), disturbed Vata, and low body strength (Ojas kshaya). Treatment focuses on stabilizing sugar fluctuations, improving energy, and protecting nerves and organs. Ayurvedic Supportive Care: Take meals at the same time daily and never skip food after insulin. Avoid excessive fasting, sugary foods, packaged snacks, cold drinks, and stress. Eat small frequent balanced meals with: whole grains moong dal cooked vegetables nuts/seeds in small quantity Useful Ayurvedic herbs Gudmar Jamun seed Methi Amla Shilajit (for weakness and low energy) Important Precautions: Keep glucose tablets, dates, or sweet juice nearby for sudden low sugar. Check sugar regularly with a glucometer. Night-time low sugar can be dangerous, so do not sleep on an empty stomach. Because you sometimes do not feel symptoms, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can be very helpful. Seek urgent medical care if: sugar goes below 70 repeatedly fainting/confusion happens again severe weakness, sweating, shaking, or unconsciousness occurs Ayurveda can help improve strength, digestion, energy, and metabolic balance, but your insulin and treatment should only be adjusted gradually under a diabetologist’s supervision. Combining proper medical monitoring with Ayurvedic lifestyle support usually gives better long-term stability
In Ayurveda, this erratic presentation aligns perfectly with a profound state of Vataja Prameha driven by Vishamagni (an irregular, unpredictable metabolic/digestive fire) and severe Dhatu Kshaya (the depletion and wasting of deeper bodily tissues). When Agni behaves like a flickering wind, the body’s conversion of food into energy becomes chaotic, leading to sudden spikes (Hyperglycemia / high Kapha-Ama state) followed by sudden crashes (Hypoglycemia / high Vata state)
1.To Clear Blockages (Ama Pachan): A combination of Amla (Amalaki) and Turmeric (Haridra)—known classically as Nisha-Amalaki—is highly effective. It regulates blood sugar gently without forcing sudden drops.
2.Chandraprabha Vati to support kidney function and strength, as frequent fluctuations exhaust the Ojas (vital energy)
3.To Stabilize the Pancreas/Metabolism: Herbs like Guduchi (Giloy) and Mamejava are excellent because they are adaptogenic; they help correct insulin sensitivity while protecting the tissues from oxidative stress.
••Strict Meal Timings: You must maintain a precise eating schedule to train the Agni. Skipping meals or delaying them will immediately provoke Vata, causing a severe low sugar crash.
••Small, Frequent, Nutritious Meals: Instead of three heavy meals, shift to 5–6 small, balanced meals. This prevents the heavy post-meal spike while ensuring the body has a continuous supply of glucose to prevent crashes.
••The Nature of Food: Consume warm, freshly cooked, light yet nourishing foods (Laghu and Brimhana).
•Grains: Old barley (Yava), millets, or broken wheat (Daliya).
•Proteins: Green gram (Mudga / Moong dal) is excellent as it stabilizes metabolism without aggravating Kapha or Vata.
•Vegetables: Bitter gourd (Karela), pointed gourd (Parwal), and bottle gourd (Lauki) cooked with mild, Agni-balancing spices like cumin, turmeric, and a very small amount of cow’s ghee to soothe Vata.
••Sleep Hygiene: Maintain a strict sleep cycle (sleeping by 10:00 PM). Inadequate sleep directly destabilizes glucose tolerance the next day
