••Hello Neeraj ji. It is good that you are proactively monitoring your blood sugar levels with a glucometer and keeping track of your HbA1c. Let’s analyze your current readings and your Ayurvedic regimen from a clinical perspective to understand why your levels might be plateauing. 1. Understanding Your Current Reports From an Ayurvedic and modern standpoint, your readings indicate Pre-diabetes moving into early-stage Diabetes (Prameha): •Fasting Blood Sugar (100–115 mg/dL): This is slightly elevated (impaired fasting glucose), but notably, it is close to a manageable range. •HbA1c (6.8%): This reflects your average blood sugar over the last 3 months. A level of 6.8% confirms mild diabetes. ••Average Blood Sugar (150 mg/dL): This correlates directly with your 6.8% HbA1c, meaning your post-meal (postprandial) spikes are likely what is keeping your overall 3-month average high, even if your fasting numbers look decent. 2. Analysis of Your Current Ayurvedic Regimen You have been taking two very standard and potent classical formulations for the last 3 months: ••Patanjali Madhunashini Vati Extra Power: Contains herbs like Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre), Karela (Bitter gourd), Neem, and Giloy. These are Tikta-Kashaya Rasa (bitter-astringent) herbs that help scrape excess fat (Meda) and control glucose absorption. ••Dhootapapeshwar Chandraprabha Vati: A brilliant classical formulation containing Shilajit and Guggulu. In Prameha (diabetes), it acts as a Rasayana (rejuvenator) that protects the kidneys and improves urinary tract health, which is vital since diabetes is primarily a disease of the urinary channels (Mutravaha Srotas) in Ayurveda. •Why are your levels staying the same? Ayurveda never treats diabetes solely with a “pill for a disease” approach. If the herbs are high-quality (which both of these brands are) but your sugar isn’t dropping, it usually means: ••Dhatu Agnimandya (Weak Tissue Metabolism): The herbs are regulating glucose in the gut, but your deep tissues are not metabolizing it efficiently. ••Dietary/Lifestyle Mismatch (Apathya): The herbs are working hard, but the intake of Kapha-aggravating foods or a sedentary routine might be neutralizing their effects. ••Dosage/Timing Adjustment: Taking 4 heavy tablets at a time, twice a day, might need a tweak in terms of timing or an Anupana (vehicle/carrier fluid) to enhance absorption. 3. Recommended Ayurvedic & Lifestyle Modifications To break this plateau, we need to focus on improving your metabolic fire (Dhatu Agni) so your body actually utilizes the glucose in your blood. A. Medication Adjustments (To Discuss with Your Direct Physician) Continue your current tablets, but change ••the vehicle (Anupana): Instead of plain water, take your morning dose of Madhunashini and Chandraprabha Vati with lukewarm warm water mixed with half a teaspoon of organic Amla powder and a pinch of Turmeric (Haridra). Amla and Turmeric form Nisha-Amalaki, the ultimate classical combination for Prameha that drastically reduces insulin resistance. ••Consider adding a digestive stimulant: If your digestion feels heavy, adding Triphala Churna (1 tsp) with warm water at bedtime can clear toxins (Ama) from the bowel, allowing your diabetes medicines to absorb much better. B. Targeted Dietary Shifts (Ahara) Since your fasting is relatively okay but your average is 150, we need to tackle post-meal spikes: ••Switch the Grain: Minimize white rice and refined wheat (Maida). Switch to Barley (Yava), Jowar (Sorghum), or Finger Millet (Ragi). Barley is explicitly praised in Ayurveda as the best grain for diabetes because it dries up excess metabolic moisture (Kleda). ••The Bitter Factor: Include bitter vegetables like Karela (bitter gourd), Methi (fenugreek leaves), and Parwal (pointed gourd) in at least one meal a day. ••Dinner Timing: Ensure your dinner is light and completed by 7:30 PM to prevent morning fasting spikes. C. Daily Regime (Vihara) ••The “1000 Steps” Rule: Ayurveda highly emphasizes Chankramana (brisk walking). Walk for 15–20 minutes specifically after lunch and dinner. This immediately helps clear the post-meal glucose from your bloodstream. ••Yoga: Practice Mandukasana (Frog pose) and Kapalbhati pranayama daily for 15 minutes on an empty stomach to stimulate the pancreas.
