Namaste Kanchan Ji As you have a strong family history of Type 2 Diabetes, Ayurvedic management focuses on controlling sugar levels naturally, improving metabolism (Agni), and preventing long-term complications. Since your weight is under control and you are physically active, that is already a very positive sign. Along with your current Metformin 500, you may consider these commonly used Ayurvedic medicine Nisha Amalaki – helps improve insulin sensitivity and supports pancreas function. Glymin tab - 2 tab twice a day before meal Madhumehari Churna / Vati – useful for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Gudmar (Meshashringi) – known as “sugar destroyer,” helps reduce sugar cravings and supports glucose control. Karela + Jamun seed powder – supports metabolism and post-meal sugar balance. Chandraprabha Vati – helps in metabolism and protects urinary health. Lifestyle is equally important Avoid sugar, bakery items, cold drinks, maida, excess rice, and late-night meals. Prefer barley, millets, green vegetables, methi, lauki, karela, and high-fiber foods. Drink warm water and walk for 15–20 minutes after meals. Practice Yoga/Pranayama daily — especially Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, and brisk walking. Regular monitoring of Fasting Sugar, PP Sugar, and HbA1c every 3 months is important. Do not stop Metformin suddenly; Ayurveda works best as a supportive and long-term balancing approach. With proper diet, lifestyle, and Ayurvedic support, diabetes can often be managed very effectively and future complications can be reduced naturally

Namaste Kanchan ji, Highly Effective Ayurvedic Herbs (Aushadhi) For someone with your profile (active, non-obese, but with a strong genetic predisposition), the following classical remedies are highly beneficial. •••Important Note: Do not stop your Metformin. Introduce these remedies gradually and monitor your fasting and post-prandial blood sugar closely. ••Chandraprabha Vati: A classical formulation that is excellent for Madhumeha, especially when there is a genetic component. It helps regulate metabolism, supports pancreatic function, and protects the kidneys from long-term diabetic complications. •Dosage: 1 to 2 tablets twice a day with lukewarm water after meals. ••Nisha-Amalaki Churna: A simple yet incredibly potent combination of organic Turmeric (Haridra) and Indian Gooseberry (Amalaki). Ayurveda praises this specific combination as a premier remedy for Prameha (diabetes). It reduces insulin resistance and is rich in antioxidants. •Dosage: 3 grams (approx. half a teaspoon) twice a day, taken with warm water before meals. ••Gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre): Literally meaning “the destroyer of sugar,” Gudmar helps reduce sugar cravings and supports the beta cells of the pancreas. ••Vasant Kusumakar Ras: If your blood sugar exhibits high fluctuations or if you experience fatigue, this is a premium herbo-mineral formulation used under strict supervision to provide strength and prevent tissue degradation (Dhatu Kshaya). 2. Dietary Guidelines (Ahara) Since your weight is already managed, the goal is not caloric restriction, but rather selecting foods that have a low glycemic index and a Tikta-Kashaya (bitter-astringent) taste profile to balance the Kapha and Pitta doshas. ••Grains: Opt for Barley (Yava), Finger Millet (Ragi), and old Basmati or Brown rice in moderation. Barley is classically considered the best grain for diabetic patients in Ayurveda. ••Vegetables: Incorporate bitter and astringent vegetables daily—Bitter gourd (Karela), Ivy gourd (Tindora/Kundru), Fenugreek leaves (Methi), pointed gourd (Parwal), and Ash gourd. ••Spices: Use Fenugreek seeds (Methi), Cinnamon (Twak), Turmeric, and Cumin generously in your cooking. A teaspoon of soaked Methi seeds consumed early morning can be very beneficial. 3. Lifestyle & Activity (Vihara) You mentioned your work involves a lot of movement, which is fantastic. To channel this activity specifically for glucose metabolism, consider adding structured Yogasanas and Pranayama into your routine: Mandukasana (Frog Pose) & Ardha ••Matsyendrasana: These specific yoga postures gently compress and stimulate the pancreas, helping to improve insulin secretion. ••Kapalbhati & Anulom Vilom: 10–15 minutes of these breathing exercises help reduce stress (cortisol), which is a hidden trigger for blood sugar spikes.
