Firstly, establish a calming bedtime routine. Try going to bed by 10 p.m., as the body naturally follows the circadian rhythms, and Pitta time follows, which can keep you awake if you delay sleep. Abhyanga, or self-massage, especially with warm sesame or Brahmi oil, can be a great addition to your routine. Doing this before bath in the morning or showering can help pacify Vata, further calming your nervous system. Pay attention to your diet too; opt for warm, fresh, and easily digestible foods. Avoid stimulants like caffeine, tobacco, or spicy, fried foods, especially towards evening. Think about incorporating more grounding, warm-milk with nutmeg could be a good drink before sleeping, as it encourages restfulness.

Practicing a relaxation technique such as meditation, yoga, or pranayama (breathing exercises) even for 15 minutes daily can enable your mind to release accumulated stress. Simple techniques like alternate nostril breathing can be soothing.

If stress is overwhelming, consider herbal formulations like Ashwagandha or Brahmi, these herbs are known to balance the nervous system and promote good sleep, but please consult with a practitioner first for correct dosages and to ensure it suits your constitution.
