Painful acne, especially on the chin and jawline, often relates to a Kapha and Pitta dosha imbalance. This area is typically influenced by factors like hormones and diet, which can trigger excessive oil production and inflammation. Let’s address this using some Ayurvedic approach.

First step is understanding your diet. It’s important to minimize or eliminate spicy, oily, and heavy foods that can aggravate Pitta and Kapha. Focus on incorporating fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables into your meals, as well as cooling foods like cucumbers, leafy greens, and melons. Avoid processed sugars and dairy, they may contribute to your condition. Eat meals at regular times and avoid heavy foods after sunset to maintain a healthy digestion, or agni.

In terms of remedies, use turmeric as its anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce inflammation and bacteria. You can make a paste with turmeric powder and a little water, apply it to the affected areas for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. It might stain the skin temporarily, but it should come off in a few washes.

Daily steaming can help open pores and cleanse deeply. Add a few neem leaves or tulsi (holy basil) to the steaming water for added antibacterial benefits. But avoid this if you have very sensitive skin.

Exercise is also crucial in balancing doshas and promoting circulation, so aim to include moderate physical activity like yoga and walking. Pranayama or deep breathing exercises can also help manage stress, which is known to worsen acne.

Hydrate sufficiently, but not excessively. Warm water with a squeeze of lemon in the morning aids in assisting digestion and detoxifying the system. Be sure to get adequate sleep and rest, as they play a vital role in your skin’s health.

If home remedies are not giving significant relief or symptoms worsen, consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner. They can provide personalized treatment, possibly with herbal supplements like Triphala or specific herbs, but this would need tailored guidance.

Topical grocery store creams might seem quick, but they won’t treat the root. It’s about finding balance internally and externally for clear, healthy skin.
