For your brother’s long hours on the laptop and the resulting eye strain, adopting some practical Ayurvedic strategies can be really beneficial. Extended screen time can lead to eye fatigue, dryness, and discomfort. Here are some suggestions to help reduce strain on eyes:

1. Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Advise your brother to take a break every 20 minutes to look at an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. This helps relax the eyes and reduce eye fatigue.

2. Eye palming: Encourage him to rub his palms together to generate some heat, then gently cup his closed eyes with the warm palms. He can do this for couple of minutes to soothe the tension around the eyes.

3. Incorporate Triphala eye wash: Triphala is a traditional Ayurvedic remedy believed to support eye health. He can make a mild aqueous solution by soaking a teaspoon of triphala powder in water overnight, straining in the morning, and using it as an eye wash. Be cautious and ensure cleanliness.

4. Ghee & Castor Oil application: A drop of lukewarm ghee in each eye before bed can help lubricate and relax eyes naturally. Castor oil also works similarly, aiding dryness relief but should be pure, organic.

5. Meditation and Pranayama: Regular practice of meditation and pranayama techniques such as Anulom-Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) can promote relaxation and decrease overall stress that may contribute to eye strain.

6. Adequate lighting and screen settings: Make sure the ambient light in his workspace is balanced, reducing glare on his screen. Adjust screen brightness and enlarge text for better readability.

7. Diet rich in eye-friendly nutrients: Eating foods high in vitamin A (like carrots, leafy greens), omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants can support eye health. Adding these to his daily diet can be helpful.

Though adopting these remedies can help alleviate symptoms, it’s important he maintains regular eye check-ups with an eye specialist to properly address eyesight issues. If discomfort persists, seeking further medical assistance would be prudent.
