I have eczema on my thumb and index finger. My doctor gave me herbolin cream to use on the affected part. Two weeks but it's not going. Dealing with eczema can be quite challenging, especially when it seems persistent. When it comes to Ayurveda, we focus on identifying the root imbalances, and addressing your symptoms from within. Eczema can be associated with Vata and Pitta doshas, which commonly results in dryness, heat, and inflammation.

You might want to start by reconsidering your dietary choices. Avoid consuming too much spicy, salty, and sour foods, which can aggravate Pitta. Instead, favor a diet rich in cool, milder flavors like sweet and bitter, including more vegetables and fruits like cucumbers, and green leafy vegies. Drinking coconut water can be soothing too.

Additionally, using natural emollients can help. Applying a thin layer of coconut oil or sesame oil to the affected area can keep the skin moist and reduce inflammation. It’s best to apply this after a shower when the skin is still damp, to lock in moisture. Btw, you could even try mixing turmeric powder with water to make a paste and apply it to the area, turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties – but only if you’re not allergic to it.

For personal care, consider switching to a mild, natural soap, free of harsh chemicals and frangrances, like those based on neem or aloe vera.

Also, it’s a good idea to manage stress, as it often exacerbates eczema. Practices like meditation and gentle yoga might provide overall relief, allowing your body to restore balance.

However, since the Herbolin cream didn’t work, it’s important to consult again with your healthcare provider to explore other options and ensure there’s no infection or deeper issue. Remember, Ayurveda works best as a complement to existing treatments, rather than a replacement for necessary medical care.
