Sevior Dandruff since I am 12 years old. Used Lot of Medicine, no use - #23020

I am facing sevior dandruff from my childhood, used lot of medicine and took different treatments but no use. They work for till the time period of medication oly within next week, return to the same condition. While doing Bald head, dandruff keeps falling as many times as the barber shaves the head. I followed diet too but no use. Please give me some advice over this issue. Thank you

Dandruff can indeed be a persistent issue, and it’s understandable that past treatments have not provided lasting relief. From an Ayurvedic perspective, dandruff commonly arises due to an imbalance in the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. When these doshas aggravate, they can result in dryness and flaking of the scalp.

First, addressing your diet can be critcial. You might want to focus on a diet that pacifies Vata and Pitta by avoiding spicy, oily, and acidic foods. Incorporating more cooling, hydrating, and nourishing foods like cucumber, coconut, and leafy greens can be helpful. Drink plenty of water to keep the body, and thus the scalp, hydrated.

Next, an oil treatment could prove beneficial. Consider massaging warm coconut oil or neem oil into your scalp twice a week, leaving it on for at least 1-2 hours before washing off. This helps in balancing the dryness indicative of Vata, while neem helps with any microbial imbalance, soothing Pitta.

Also, you may try a gentle scalp massage with a mixture of lemon juice and curd. The acid from lemon can reduce yeast-like fungus linked to dandruff, while curd further nurtures scalp health.

Regular use of herbal shampoo containing reetha, amla or bhringraj may assist in maintaining scalp health. These herbs can naturally clean the scalp without being too harsh.

Stress reduction also plays a role in overall Vata and Pitta balance, so practices like yoga and meditation might be beneficial. Sleeping sufficiently and following a regular routine can further stabilize your doshas.

Lastly, if the condition remains unchanged with these methods, it’s important to consult with a healthcare practitioner for a thorough evaluation, as severe dandruff sometimes indicates underlying skin conditions like psoriasis or dermatitis needing distinct management.
