My age is 25. Can I improve my eye vision by taking diet? If yes, what foods i need to take? What are the do's and don'ts? How much time period required to improve vision from -2.5 to zero? Are there any ayurvedic supplements?

Improving your eye vision through diet is a beneficial approach, though going from a -2.5 to zero might be challenging and unrealistic just through food. In Ayurveda, we emphasize a holistic approach that combines diet, lifestyle, and occasionally, herbal supplements, ensuring they all work in harmony to support eye health.

Start by incorporating foods rich in Vitamin A, like carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach. These contain beta-carotene which supports the health of the eyes. Amalaki (Indian gooseberry) is another potent fruit rich in Vitamin C which can be beneficial. Consider adding ghee (clarified butter) to your diet – it pacifies the Pitta dosha which often affects eye health adversely. Additionally, Triphala, an ayurvedic supplement made from three fruits, can also be beneficial for maintaining eye health.

However, it’s important not to fall into the trap of thinking diet alone can completely correct vision errors. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, including flaxseeds, walnuts, and mackerel, are also recommended as they support overall eye health, particularly in preventing dryness.

Regularly perform eye exercises, such as palming and rolling your eyes, to reduce strain, and consider spending more time in natural daylight to support your circadian rhythms, which can improve overall eye function.

It’s difficult to put a definitive timeline on seeing improvements as this varies greatly from person to person, depending on how disciplined you are with your diet and lifestyle adjustments. It’s also important to wear glasses as prescribed to avoid additional strain on the eyes.

Avoid excessive screen time, harsh lighting, and ensuring you are not exposing your eyes to extreme conditions unnecessarily. Herbiral teas, like fennel or chamomile, can be calming and should be taken regularly.

As with any health condition, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider or an Ayurvedic specialist who can offer personalized guidance based on your unique constitution, or prakriti. Keep in mind that if there’s significant concerns about your vision, seeking conventional medical treatments should not be delayed as they might be necessary alongside Ayurvedic approaches.
