HELLO SRI,

This can be due to PCOD

PCOD means that your ovaries are not working normally. Instead of releasing one healthy egg every month, your ovaries are producing many small immature eggs that stay inside and form small fluid- filled sacs or cysts

Think of your body as a system of hormones that must stay in balance.

IN PCOD -the body makes too many male hormones which women also have in small amounts - this stops ovulation, causing irregular or no periods -it also affect insulin, a hormone that controls blood sugar. If insulin is not working properly(insulin resistance), it makes the body gain weight and worsens pcod.

In Ayurveda, PCOD is caused by an imbalance in the kapha and vata doshas, leading to -ama(toxins) blocking the channels in your ovaries -slow metabolism(poor digestion- weak agni) - hormonal irregularities - stress(aggravates vata) adding to iiregularity

INTERNALLY START WITH

1) M2 TONE SYRUP(by charak)= 2 tsp twice daily after meals = helps ovaries work better, bring back your periods regularly

2) KANCHANAR GUGGULU( baidyanth/ AVP)= 2 tabs twice dailyafter meals with warm water = melts small cysts in your ovaries, supports thyroid and weight loss

3) ASHOKARISHTA(baidyanth/dabur)= 2 tsp with equal water twice daily after meals = regulates periods, reduces heavy bleeding and pain, supports uterus

4) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime = clears toxins from your body and improves digestion

5) EVECARE CAPSULES(by himalaya)= 1 cap twice daily after meals =balances hormones, improves ovarian function, regularises periods

DIET PLAN

FOODS TO INCLUDE

1) WHOLE GRAINS -millets= foxtail, barnyard, kodo, little millet- regulate insulin and reduce fat -quinoa, amaranth, red/brown rice -rolled oats(not instant)

2) VEGETABLES -focus on bitter, pungent, and astringent food -bitter gourd, drumstick, methi -cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, ash gourd -avoid raw salads, cook lightly and digestive spices

3) FRUITS(LOW GLYCEMIC) -amla=fresh or churna -pomegrante -apples, pears, papaya, berries

4) PROTEINS -Plant based= Moong dal, massor dal, horse gram, sprouted lentils -Animal based (if non veg)= boiled eggs, grilled fish(2 times/week)

5) HEALTHY FATS -cold pressed sesame oil -ghee=1 tsp/day -flax seed oil -seeds= flax, chia, pumpkin seeds- support estrogen balance

6) HERBS AND SPICES -turmeric, cinnamon, fenugreek, cumin, coriander, ajwian, -black pepper+ ginger

FOODS TO AVOID -cold and raw foods like smoothies, raws salads - sugar and white bread=causes weight gain and acne -fried or packaged foods= increases toxins -milk,panner,cheese= can make cysts worse -stress and late night= disrupts hormones

LIFESTYLE CHANGES FOR DEEP HEALING

1) DAILY RHYTHM -wake up before 7 am= sets hormonal rhythm -hydration=warm water with lemon+pinch of turmeric or methi seeds water(soaked overnight) -meal timing= eat meals at regular intervals; no skipping -sleep= sleep by 10-10:30 pm to optimise melatonin and cortisol balance -avoid excessive screen time, especially before sleep

DETOX PRACTICES TO FOLLOW these helps removes toxins and reduce cyst formation -Triphala churna= 1 tsp at night with warm water -CASTOR OIL=montly one 10 ml in milk at night -Self oil massage= sesame oil daily before shower -TAKRA- buttermilk spiced with cumin and ginger daily after lunch

YOGA AND MOVEMENT

BEST YOGA ASANAS -malasana= opens pelvic region -baddha konasana= improves circulation to ovaries -Bhujangasana= stimulates abdominal organs -setu bandhasana= balances thyroid and pelvic hormones -suryanamskar= 5-7 rounds

PRANAYAM -nadi sodhana= balances hormones, calms mind - bhramari= reduces anxiety and supports pitutary -kapalbhati= light version, support metabolism

MIND BODY CONNECTION PCOD is deeply linked with stress and emotional stagnation -practicue gratitude journaling, emotional release -engage in art, music, or nature therapy -reduce overthinking and over working- both aggravate vata

DO FOLLOW THIS CONSISTENTLY FOR 3 MONTHS

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

Hi Sri, Thank you for your question. First we need to address your thyroid issues, then only we can regulate your periods.

Your TSH = 7.5 indicates hypothyroidism, meaning your thyroid gland is underactive. This slows metabolism and affects reproductive hormones like oestrogen and progesterone — leading to irregular, sometimes scanty or frequent bleeding.

A sedentary lifestyle worsens this because:

Circulation and metabolism slow down

Insulin resistance increases

Stress hormones rise, which further disturb ovulation and thyroid regulation

Management plan

1. Diet (Aahar) Mandatory: do not skip breakfast. If you are on thyroxine have it early morning then after 1 hour you must take breakfast.

| Prefer warm, light, easily digestible food — moong dal, millets, vegetables like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, drumstick, pumpkin. | | Avoid cold, oily, fried, packaged, and dairy-heavy foods. | | Take an early dinner (before 8 PM). | | Add jeera–ajwain–methi water (1 tsp mix boiled in 2 cups water → reduce to 1 cup, sip warm). | | Include triphala at bedtime for mild detox (½ tsp in warm water). |

2. Lifestyle (Vihar)

| Avoid daytime sleeping and late-night work. | | Practice suryanamaskara, stress-regulating techniques — Anulom Vilom, Bhramari, or guided relaxation. |

3. Medicine Pachanamritam Kashayam (15 ml kashayam with 45 ml water) or Pathyakustumbaradi kashaya choorna : Boil 1 teaspoon choorna in 200 ml of water. Consume 100 ml each half an hour before food Amritarishita plus punarnavasavam 15 ml each after food Shiva gutika 1 tablet 2 times a day after food Paranthyadi taila for external application over thyroid area to stimulate the gland.

Review after 2 weeks

4. Modern monitoring

Please ensure:

TSH, T3, T4 every 6–8 weeks to assess thyroid control.

If you’re already on thyroxine (Eltroxin/Thyronorm), take it empty stomach daily, and don’t skip doses for now. We can stop that and continue Ayurveda treatment once your hormonal levels reach normalcy.

Check Haemoglobin, Vitamin D, and B12 — their deficiency also disturbs cycles.

🧘‍♀️ Do suryanamaakara daily. Do not miss this.

To address irregular and light periods, it’s essential to bring balance to your lifestyle and consider the thyroid issue. Ayurveda emphasizes harmonizing the doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta, which often influence menstrual health. Since your lifestyle is sedentary, incorporating movement and dietary changes can help.

Start your day with warm water, perhaps adding ginger or lemon to assist digestion and balance Kapha, aggravated by inactivity. Regularity in meal times is crucial, so aim to eat three meals a day at consistent times. Focus on warm, cooked meals favoring light, easily digestible foods like steamed vegetables, soups, and whole grains like quinoa or rice. Avoid excessive cold foods, caffeinated beverages, and processed items that can imbalance Vata and Pitta.

Considering your thyroid issue, a diet rich in iodine, selenium, and zinc is useful. You might incorporate more seaweeds, nuts, seeds, and seafood into your meals, but do check this with a healthcare provider given your thyroid condition.

Physical activity is vital; start with gentle exercises like walking for at least 30 minutes daily or do some yoga postures supportive for menstrual health. Poses like Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) and Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) can help in improving circulation, and balancing hormones.

For your mental and emotional health, consider regular meditation or pranayama practices. Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing) is beneficial in calming the mind and balancing body energies.

Herbal support can be considered after professional consultation. Herbs like Ashwagandha, Shatavari, and Guduchi have reputations for balancing hormones and supporting reproductive health. Ashwagandha may also help with stress and adrenal support, both crucial for thyroid management.

Given the thyroid reading and irregular periods, checking with an endocrinologist is critical to assess if immediate medical intervention or adjustment in thyroid medication is necessary. This approach ensures you manage both menstrual health and thyroid effectively.

Irregular and light periods accompanied by a thyroid imbalance, particularly with a TSH level of 7.5, suggest an interplay of dosha imbalances, mainly Vata and Kapha. To address these, there are several practical steps you can take within the framework of Siddha-Ayurveda.

Firstly, it’s important to balance your Vata, which plays a significant role in regulating menstrual cycles. Incorporate regularity into your day; set a fixed time for meals and sleep, and try to keep warm and avoid cold, windy environments. To help balance Kapha, which may contribute to thyroid issues, focus on dietary adjustments. Reduce intake of cold, heavy, and oily foods. Favor warm, light, and easily digestible meals.

Include herbs such as Ashwagandha, which is known to balance both thyroid function and Vata, in your daily routine. You can consider taking 1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder with warm milk at bedtime. Another important herb is Shatavari; taking 1-2 teaspoons of Shatavari powder with warm water can help regulate your menstrual cycle.

For your sedentary lifestyle, introduce more movement. Every hour, stand up and stretch or walk for a few minutes. Gentle Yoga or exercises like Surya Namaskar can stimulate Agni and enhance circulation without being too taxing.

Ensure you maintain an optimized digestive fire (Agni). Consider drinking hot water infused with ginger throughout the day, avoiding cold and processed foods. Your thyroid condition warrants parallel conventional medical attention, as adjusting hormone levels can significantly impact symptoms. Always work alongside a healthcare professional for thyroid management.

All these steps can create a framework to balance your body and mind, but it’s vital to consult both Ayurvedic and conventional practitioners, especially if symptoms persist, to achieve a comprehensive understanding and treatment approach.
