Hello Vandana Ji,

I can understand your concern regarding Hair loss in the front area of the scalp—especially where the scalp skin starts to become visible. But dont worry we are here to help you out😊

✅PROBABLE CAUSES

👉Androgenic alopecia (female pattern baldness) – common after menopause due to hormonal changes. 👉Nutritional deficiencies – Iron, Vitamin D3, B12, protein deficiency. 👉Stress, thyroid, or poor sleep. 👉Tight hairstyles or frequent coloring.

✅INTERNAL MEDICATION

1. Bhringraj Vati – 1 tablet twice daily with water or milk. ( Nourishes hair roots and prevents premature hair loss.)

2. Amla Rasayan – 1 tsp morning and evening. ( Rejuvenates hair and strengthens immunity.)

3. Narikela Lavan – 1 tablet twice daily after meals. (Supports hormonal and calcium balance in women above 50.)

4. Triphala churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water. ( Detoxifies the body and improves nutrient absorption.)

✅EXTERNAL AYURVEDIC APPLICATION

1. Neelibhringadi Taila – Warm the oil slightly and apply to scalp 3 times a week. ( Promotes regrowth and strengthens hair roots.)

2. Kesharaja Taila + Brahmi Taila (mix equal parts) – Massage gently into scalp for 10 min before sleep. (Enhances circulation and reduces dryness)

3. Aloe vera pulp + Amla juice – Apply as a natural mask once weekly for hair hydration and shine.

✅DIET AND LIFESTYLE TIPS

✅ Include

Amla, curry leaves, black sesame seeds, walnuts, soaked almonds. Cow’s ghee and coconut oil – nourish hair internally. Moong dal, milk, ghee, dates, jaggery, leafy greens, beetroot.

❌ Avoid

Spicy, fried, stale food. Excess tea, coffee, alcohol. Late-night sleep and stress.

✅YOGA AND LIFESTYLE

Sarvangasana, Vajrasana, Shirsasana (if comfortable) – improve scalp blood flow. Pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) – balances Vata-Pitta and relieves stress. Keep scalp clean; avoid harsh shampoos and hot water baths.

Hair can regrow and become thicker even after 60 when scalp health and internal nourishment are restored. Patience and consistency (minimum 2–3 months) are key.

Wishing you a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

HELLO VANDANA,

You are 60 year old women experiencing hair thinning and visible scalp, especially in the front area This type of hairloss is very common after menopause and usually results from a combination of age related changes, hormonal imbalance and nutritional deficiency

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BODY In Ayurveda, hair is considered by product of bone tissue and nourished by rasa (body fluid) and rakta (blood) When these dhatus are weak or not nourished properly, the hair roots lose strength causing hair fall and thinnig

The condition is called Khalitya in Ayurveda

MAIN DOSHA INVOLVED -Pitta dosha becomes aggravated causing inflamamtion and damage in hair roots -Vata dosha increases due to age and causes dryness, weakness, and hairfall -Kapha dosha usually decreases, making the scalp dry and undernourished

SIMPLY Think of your hair like plants in a garden -If there’s too much heat (pitta), the roots get burned -If there’s too much dryness (vata), the soil loses moisture -If the nourishing water (rasa dhatu) and minerals (rakta dhatu) are less, growth weakens

This is exactly what happens in your scalp

TREATMENT GOALS -Stop further hair loss by calming aggravated pitta and vata dosha -Rejuvenate hair roots and improve blood supply to the scalp -Promote new hair growth with nourishing medications -Improve overall vitality and balance body-mind through diet and lifestyle

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) BHRINGARAJASAVA= 20 ml with equal water after meals twice daily for 3 months =classical tonic for hair and liver, strengthens root and improves blood quality

2) AMLAKI RASAYANA= 1 tsp twice daily with warm water =rejuvinates hair follicles, rich in vitamin c, balances pitta

3) NARASIMHA RASAYANA= 1 tsp daily in morning for 3 months =promotes tissue regeneration, nourishes asthi dhatu

4) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water =gentle detoxifier, cleanses pitta and improves digestion

5) CHYAWANPRASHA= 1 tsp in morning =general Rasayana, boosts immunity, and vitality

6) BRAHMI VATI= 1 tab twice daily for 1 month =calms mind, reduces stress (a key factor in hair loss)

EXTERNAL OIL APPLICATIONS

1. NEELIBHRINGADI TAILA- massage warm oil 30 mins before bath for 4 times/week(ref- sahasra yoga)

2. DHURDHURAPATRADI TAILA- for scalp dryness and dandruff = twice/week(ref- bhaisajya ratnavali)

3. BRAHMI-AMLA OIL- infuse oil with fresh amla and brahmi leaves regularly use

FOR FRIZZ- use coconut or sesame base for INFLAMATION- use amla infused cooling oils

POTENT HERBAL PACKS FOR SCALP

1)CLASSIC HAIR PACK -bhringaraj churna- 1 tsp -amla powder- 1 tsp -hibiscus powder- 1 tsp -aloe vera pulp- 2tbsp Apply 1 hour before bath; rinse with herbal decoction

2)RAKTA- SODHANA SCALP LEPA -Manjistha+lodhra+triphala+sandalwood+rose water =apply during pitta-aggravated stages, especially with itching or scalp redness

ESSENTIAL FOODS -cow milk+ghee= builds Ojas, nourishes dhatu -black sesame seeds= asthi dhatu enhancer -soaked almonds(5-6)= omega 3+ protein -fresh amla(or juice)= rasayana, anti-pitta -moong dal khichdi= easily digestible -curry leaves(raw/chutney)= rich in iron and vitamin c -dates, figs, raisins= rasa dhatu replenishment

AVOID -spicy, fermented, fried , junk food -late night meals -overconsumption of tea, coffe, carbonated drinks -alcohol, smoking

LIFESTYLE + DAILY ROUTINES

MORNING ROUTINE -Wake before 6 AM= aligns with brahma muhurtha if possible

Hair loss in the frontal area of the scalp can be attributed to several factors. In Ayurveda, hair health is largely influenced by the balance of doshas, particularly Pitta. At the age of 60, Vata dosha can also be a contributing factor due to natural aging processes. An imbalance in these doshas might result in thinning of the hair and others problems in the scalp.

One primary cause could be hormonal changes, common at this stage in life, affecting the hair follicles. In Ayurveda, this can be related to both Pitta aggravation and the degeneration aspect of high Vata. It’s essential to address these imbalances holistically. Stress, anxiety and lifestyle factors also play a significant role in accelerating hair loss, particularly in the form of pattern baldness seen in the frontal area.

To tackle this issue, consider dietary improvements to pacify Pitta and Vata. Consuming foods that are cooling and nourishing, like fresh fruits, juices, coconut water, and aloe vera, can help balance Pitta. Include healthy fats like ghee and sesame oil for Vata pacification. Iron, zinc, and vitamin-D rich foods are essential—they nourish the hair roots. Avoid excessive spicy, oily, and fermented foods that may provoke Pitta.

Scalp massage with herbal oils, such as Amla oil or Bhringraj oil, can be beneficial. Massage gently during evenings to promote blood circulation and strengthen hair follicles. Utilizing herbal treatments like Brahmi powder in the form of pack could support. managing stress through practices like yoga, pranayama and meditation aid in calming the mind and reducing excess Vata-Pitta influences.

Ensure proper sleep, as irregular sleep disrupts all doshas and hampers hair health. If the thinning is significantly severe, considering speaking with a professional for personalized Ayurvedic remedies, or even modern treatments, would be prudent. Persisting hair loss may require deeper intervention to prevent further thinning and to address underlying causes effectively.

At your age, hair loss in the front area of the scalp can often be attributed to what we in Siddha-Ayurvedic practices refer to as imbalance of the body’s doshas, particularly Vata dosha. This type of hair thinning or baldness, known as “Khalitya” in our tradition, is a common result of increased Vata and sometimes Pitta, which can lead to weakening of the hair roots. Over time, these imbalances may affect the hair’s support system, causing the hair to become scanty and revealing more of the scalp underneath.

Aside from dosha imbalances, aging naturally affects all seven dhatus, or tissue systems, with a general decline in bodily functions, including the regeneration of hair follicles. Poor dietary habits, high stress levels, lack of proper scalp care, or an overactive Agni can exacerbate this condition, leading to worsening hair texture and further loss.

To address this condition, first, it’s advisable to nourish the scalp and hair root directly. Massaging the scalp gently with coconut oil or sesame oil, enriched with Bhringraj and Amala, known for their rejuvenating properties, can help soothing Vata and Pitta. Do this 2-3 times a week. Encourge circulation by applying gentle pressure in circular motions. Diet-wise, aim for foods that balance Vata like warm, moist, and nourishing foods, avoiding excessively dry or cold preparations. Include ghee or clarified butter in your meals, as it aids in moistening and strengthening body tissues.

Additionally, taking herbal supplements that balance the body’s doshas like Triphala can be beneficial. Triphala supports digestion and helps clear toxins, hence enhancing nutrient absorption for better hair health. Practicing stress-reducing activities such as yoga or meditation can also help stabilize Vata within the body.

If you notice severe or rapidly changing hair loss, it may be wise to consult a healthcare professional to explore underlying conditions. Nonetheless, following these Siddha-Ayurvedic guidance can support you in maintaining and nurturing your hair health.
