Hello Yes — I can absolutely help clear up the confusion about which version of Dhurdhurapatradi Thailam to buy (the one with sesame oil base vs. the one with coconut oil base) and give you a recommendation based on your condition of dandruff with dry flakiness.

✅ What you need to know

Here are the key differences and what each version offers: Base oil difference

-The classical form of Dhurdhurapatradi Thailam uses til taila (sesame oil) as the base.

-The variation known as Dhurdhurapatradi Keratailam (or „coconut oil base“) uses kera taila (coconut oil) instead of sesame.

✅Indications & benefits

it’s indicated for kandu (itching), keshachyuti (hair-fall), dandruff, scalp problems etc.

The coconut oil version emphasises scalp hydration, soothing, and suitability for scalp issues where the sesame version might be too “warming” or heavy for certain conditions.

👉Which one is better for your case?

Since you mention severe dandruff, dryness/flakiness of scalp, and you’re from Madhya Pradesh (likely a drier environment):

Dryness/flakiness suggests that your scalp may need more moisture and less heating

Coconut oil base tends to be cooling, more hydrating, and gentler for dry scalps compared to sesame, which is somewhat more penetrating and slightly warming.

The sesame-oil base version is classical and very good, but if your scalp is very dry and flaky (not oily or humid), the coconut base may provide better soothing and hydration.

So my recommendation: Go for the coconut-oil base version, i.e., Dhurdhurapatradi Kera Thailam (or whichever brand you find with coconut oil base) because it matches your scalp condition (dandruff + dryness) better. You can keep the sesame-base version in reserve if your scalp becomes more oily/humid or you have other issues later.

✅ How to use it for best results

Apply the oil on your scalp (especially the areas with flakes) at night or at least 30 minutes before your hair-wash.

Gently massage the scalp for 5-10 minutes to increase circulation.

Leave it on for 20-30 minutes (or overnight if possible), then wash with a mild herbal shampoo.

Use 2–3 times per week initially, reduce to once a week when dandruff improves.

Maintain a good daily routine: avoid very cold baths, use lukewarm water for hair-wash; ensure scalp is clean and dry before oiling, avoid heavy styling products that trap sebum/flakes.

Hope I cleared your doubt and confusion

Wishing you a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Buy the COCONUT OIL BASE version since it ighter, non-greasy, better for severe dandruff + dryness in hot-dry area. Sesame base is heavier & may worsen flakes.

How to Use Warm 5–10 ml → massage scalp → leave 1 hr → wash with mild herbal shampoo (Neem/Triphala). 3x weekly for 30 days.

Additional Medicines Bhringraj Churna: 3 gm nightly with water (internal anti-dandruff). Neem Capsule: 500 mg twice daily (reduces scalp inflammation).

Dhurdhurapayradi oil comes in two types because one is made in coconut oil and the other is sesame oil. You do not have to Worry too much about the difference. Just choose based upon your scalp type

If your scalp is oily or get sticky yellow flakes, The Coconut oil base will suit you better. It feels lighter and cooling, and it works swelling places with warmer weather like Madhya Pradesh. If your Scorpio is dry with white powder flakes, and a tight feeling, then the sesame oil base feels more nourishing and helps the dryness Most people with dandruff do better with coconut oil version, so if you are confused, start with that, if your scalp starts feeling too dry, you can shift to sesame one later

For severe dandruff with dryness and flakiness, the coconut oil-based Dhurdhurapatradi Thailam is generally more suitable due to its cooling and moisturizing properties.

Coconut oil base (Keratailam) is ideal for your condition because: - It has cooling and soothing effects, which help with inflammation and itching - It moisturizes dry scalp, reducing flakiness - It’s especially beneficial in climates like Madhya Pradesh

🌿 How to Use Dhurdhurapatradi Coconut Oil - Warm slightly before use - Apply to scalp and massage gently for 5–10 minutes - Leave for at least 1 hour or overnight - Wash with a mild herbal shampoo (e.g., Shikakai or Reetha-based) - Use 2–3 times per week consistently for 4–6 weeks

Dhurdhurapatradi Thailam is a traditional Ayurvedic oil known for addressing issues related to the scalp, including dandruff. Your confusion between the versions with normal base oil and coconut oil base is understandable. Each has its specific benefits, and the choice may depend on your personal preferences and climatic conditions.

The version with coconut oil as a base is often preferred because coconut oil has natural antifungal properties, which can be particularly useful in treating dandruff often caused by fungi. Coconut oil is also cooling and soothing, making it suitable for calming an irritated scalp. Given that you’re from Madhya Pradesh, where temperatures can get quite warm, coconut oil-based Dhurdhurapatradi Thailam might be more suitable, as it provides a cooling effect.

However, if you prefer an oil that absorbs easily and doesn’t leave too much residue, you might consider the other base, often a sesame oil base (though this can vary by manufacturer). Sesame oil is known for its nourishing qualities and penetrates deeply, promoting overall scalp health.

For usage, apply the selected oil on your scalp overnight, once or twice a week, gently massage it in circular motions to increase blood circulation, and wash it off with a mild herbal shampoo the next morning. Always ensure the product quality by checking for any third-party testing or certifications, as this can ensure purity and authenticity.

Additionally, balancing your diet with foods reducing Kapha, such as avoiding sugar-laden foods and increasing fresh vegetables, can further support your dandruff treatment. Drinking plenty of water and managing stress levels will aid in the comprehensive approach Ayurveda promotes for health issues.

HELLO,

1) DHURDHURAPATRADI TAILAM (sesame oil base) -warmer and stronger action -better for thick dandruff, stubborn flakes, and scalp infections -can feel slightly heavy -best In cooler climates

2) DHURDHURAPRATRADI + COCONUT OIL -cooling, soothing -best if you have dry scalp + burning/itching -lightweight, easiest to wash off -good for hot regions like Madhya Pradesh

Since you’re from Madhya Pradesh (hot climate) + you have dryness and severe dandruff The coconut oil base version is usually the better choice
