Doctors' responses

HELLO,

Main complaints -premature greying Since 10 years -hair fall more than 6 months

this indicates an imbalance mainly in Pitta and Vata doshas, possibly with weak Rasa dhatu(plasma), Rakta dhatu(blood), and Asthi dhatu(bones, which support hair/nails)

DOSHA INVOLVEMENT

PITTA- governs heat, metabolism , when aggravated, burns melanin->premature greying

VATA- thin, falling hair

KAPHA- nourishment, strength, deficiency-> weak roots, oily hair, lack of luster

TREATMENT SHOULD BE FOCUSED TO -to stop hair fall -reverse/slow premature greying -thicken and volumize hair -repair frizzy hair -rejuvinate scalp and nervous system -correct internal imbalances(vata-pitta) -prevent further damage and relapse

START INTERNALLY WITH

1) KESHYA RASAYANA GHRITA - 1/2 tsp with milk in morning empty stomach for 3-4 months =deep rejuvinator for hair, brain, eyes, balances vata-pitta BRAND= Arya Vaidya sala/ vaidyaratnam

2)LOHA BHASMA + NARIKEL LAVAN -loha bhasma- 125 mg+ nairkela lavana- 250 mg take with honey+ ghee once daily after breakfast for 40 days =powerful rejuvination combo for very early greying, rich in iron, balances pitta

3)CHYAWANPRASHA SPECIAL(high amla content) -1 tsp with warm milk daily morning for 12 months =deep rejuvenation, improves immunity, hair growth, pigmentation (BRAND SUGGESTION= AVP dhanwantharam chyawanprasha or Nagarjuna chyawanprasha(with Swarna bhasma)

4)SWARNA MAKSHIK BHASMA -125 mg with amla juice or honey for 2 months =addressess deep rasa/rakta dhatu problems linked to early greying

5)KESYA KALPA CAPSULES -1 cap twice daily after meals for 3 months =bends of rasayana+ anti greying herbs like prashnaparni, Ashoka, bringaraj

EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS

1) KANJUNNYADI KERA TAILA( AVS KOTTAKKAL BRAND) -warm slightly, apply to scalp and hair leave overnight =powerful Kerala medicated oil, anti greying, dandruff removal, anti fall, scalp rejuvinator

2) KAYYUNYADI TAILA -alternate with above oil thrice/week =used in severe greying and scalp dryness, nourishes hair roots

SHAMPOO SUGGESTIONS

DIVYA KESH KANTI ADVANCED(patanjali)= strong herbal shampoo with anti-greying and anti fall ingredients

TRICHUP HERBAL SHAMPOO(VASU)= with keratin + herbal blend =reduces dandruff

KOTTAKAL NEELIBHRINGADI SHAMPOO= gentle but nourishes follicles deeply

FOR STRESS- take MANAS MITRA VATAKAM(avs or Arya Vaidya pharmacy)- 1 tab at bedtime with warm milk for 1 month =used for hair greying/fall due to mental stress, insomnia

NASYA THERAPY- instill 2 drops of keshya taila in each nostril daily in morning =improve hair and brain health

DIET MODIFICATIONS -include Amla, curry leaves, black sesame seeds- 1 tsp/day -cow ghee 1 tsp/day -pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts -millets ragi, jowar -fresh fruits, leafy greens -moong dal, rice, old wheat

AVOID -spicy, sour fermented foods -oily, junk, packaged foods -tea, coffee, alcohol -excesssive salt or sugar

START YOUR DAY WITH SOAKED RAISINS AND ALMONDS, WARM WATER WITH LEMON AND HONEY

LIFESTYLE AND YOGA -SARVANGASANA= improves scalp blood flow -ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA = enhances nutrients delivery to follicles -SHASHANKASANA= calms stress -PRANAYAM= balances vata and pitta reduces stress

ROUTINE TIPS -sleep early by 10 pm -avoid excessive screen time -oil scalp before sleeping -use wooden comb(avoid plastic)

EXPECTED RESULTS TIMELINE

1 MONTH- Reduction in hairfall, frizz control, reduce dandruff 3 MONTHS- stronger roots, less breakage, new baby hair 6+ MONTHS= slowed greying, better volume and texture

DO FOLLOW CONSISTENTLY

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

Hello I completely understand your concern regarding premature greying and severe hair fall. You mentioned that your hair started greying 10 years ago, and in the past 6 months, hair fall has become excessive, along with scalp dryness and itching.

✅PROABABLE CAUSES

Excessive mental stress, anger, or overthinking. Irregular meals, spicy or sour foods increasing Pitta. Nutrient-deficient diet leading to Dhatu Kshaya (tissue depletion). Excess use of shampoos, chemicals, or exposure to heat. Lack of scalp oiling and dry scalp due to Vata aggravation.

✅ AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT PLAN

✅ INTERNAL MEDICATION

1. Bhringrajasava – 20 ml with equal water after meals twice daily ( Strengthens hair roots, promotes natural colour, improves liver and Pitta balance.)

2. Amla Churna – 1 tsp with lukewarm water or milk daily at bedtime ( Rich in antioxidants, promotes hair pigmentation and scalp nourishment.)

3. Triphala Churna – 1 tsp with warm water at night ( Improves digestion, cleanses Ama, and enhances nutrient absorption.)

4. Narasimha Rasayana – 1 tsp twice daily with warm milk ( Rasayana for skin, hair, and overall vitality.)

5.Chandraprabha Vati – 1 tab twice daily with lukewarm water ( Supports metabolism, reduces acidity, and enhances hair nourishment.)

✅ EXTERNAL THERAPY

1. Neelibhringadi Taila Massage scalp gently for 10 minutes daily, leave overnight, and wash next morning with herbal shampoo (Amla–Reetha–Shikakai-based).

2. Amla Paste Hair Pack (once weekly): Mix Amla powder + Aloe vera gel + few drops of lemon juice, apply on scalp for 30 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water. Strengthens follicles, reduces dandruff and itching.

3. Warm oil massage (Shiro Abhyanga) twice a week followed by mild steam (Nadi Sweda). Improves scalp circulation, relieves dryness, and calms Vata.

✅ HOME REMEDIES

1. Amla + Bhringraj Juice: Take 20 ml daily in the morning on an empty stomach for 3 months. ( Reverses premature greying, provides Vitamin C, and strengthens follicles.)

2. Coconut Milk Massage: Apply freshly extracted coconut milk to scalp weekly. ( Soothes Pitta, moisturizes scalp, and promotes new hair growth.)

3. Black Sesame Seeds (Til): Consume 1 tsp daily in the morning. ( Excellent for hair pigmentation and nourishment.)

4. Methi (Fenugreek) Paste: Soak methi seeds overnight, grind into paste, and apply for 30 minutes before bath once a week. ( Controls dandruff and hair fall.)

5. Drink 1 glass of Amla water daily: Soak 1 tsp Amla powder overnight in water, strain and drink in the morning. ( Cools Pitta and purifies Rakta dhatu.)

✅ DIET RECOMMENDATIONS

✅ Include:

Ghee, cow milk, dates, soaked almonds, walnuts. Green leafy vegetables, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, beetroot. Amla, pomegranate, figs, raisins. Moong dal, rice, soups with cumin and turmeric. Herbal teas with Brahmi, Amla, or Yashtimadhu.

❌ Avoid:

Spicy, sour, and fried food. Coffee, alcohol, smoking, and late-night eating. Fermented foods, pickles, and vinegar. Stress and irregular sleep patterns.

✅ LIFESTYLE RECOMMENDATIONS

Maintain a regular sleep routine (10 PM–6 AM). Practice Pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) daily for stress reduction. Perform Shiro Abhyanga (oil massage) twice a week. Stay hydrated with warm water throughout the day. Engage in positive, calm activities — avoid overthinking and anger, which aggravate Pitta.

Long-term use of Rasayana medicines (Amla, Narasimha Rasayana) supports sustained hair nourishment and slows further greying.

Warm Regards, Dr Snehal Vidhate

Greying of hair, especially if it began years ago, may be linked to natural aging processes, genetic factors or constitutional dosha imbalances. In Ayurveda, premature greying is often associated with Pitta and Vata imbalances in particular, which could also relateingly affect hairfall and scalp dryness.

To begin with, the emphasis should be on nourishing your scalp and balancing the doshas. Start including oil massages (Shiro Abhyanga) into your routine using oils like Amla oil or Brahmi oil. These can pacify Pitta and nourish the hair root, potentially slowing down further greying and improving hair texture. Warm some of the oil slightly before gently massaging into the scalp. Permit it to stay for a minimum of 30 minutes before rinsing, ideally with a herbal shampoo that’s free from harsh chemicals.

Your hyperacidity history suggests an underlying Pitta aggression, which may also be influencing hair quality. Consider adjusting your diet to include cooling foods that pacify Pitta, such as cucumber, coriander, fennel, and coconut water. Minimize spicy, fried, or overly sour foods.

For managing dryness, it’s crucial to hydrate internally and externally. Increase intake of healthy fats like ghee or olive oil, which supports tissues (dhatus) nourishment. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas. Try to avoid excessive use of hair dryers or hot water when washing your hair to prevent further drying.

Yoga and Pranayama can also help in calming the mind and reducing stress, thereby impacting hair health positively. Try incorporating some time for meditation or deep-breathing exercises daily. It’s essential to identify if there are any underlying health issues that might need direct medical attention. If hairfall worsens or other symptoms appear, consult a healthcare professional promptly.
