I have problem with my vision, my vision gets blurred and sometimes I misread words. In fact after using prescribed lenses, visions issues are worsening. I can see and read perfectly from distance, but I face challenges to read data or information given in tabular form (on both paper and screen).

Blurred vision, especially when associated with reading difficulties, can be frustrating. In Ayurveda, such symptoms may indicate an imbalance that affects your nervous system or visual pathways. Noticing deteriorating eyesight even with prescriebed lenses suggests the need to address underlying imbalances rather than just symptomatic relief.

Firstly, examine your diet and lifestyle. Sometimes excessive screen time or inadequate lighting may strain your eyes. Take frequent breaks following the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds). Optimize lighting when reading or working on screens to reduce unnecessary strain.

From an ayurvedic perspective, poor vision may be associated with imbalances in Pitta dosha, which relates to perception and focus. It’s important to nourish and cool the eyes. Use cooling herbal eyedrops such as those containing rose water or triphala. Prepare a triphala eye wash by soaking triphala powder in water overnight, strain and use the liquid to rinse your eyes in the morning.

Diet plays a crucial role as well. Ensure that your meals include foods rich in beta-carotene and vitamin A, like carrots, leafy greens, and sweet potatoes to support eye health. Include ghee (clarified butter) in moderation, as it is believed in Ayurveda to be beneficial for improving vision.

Incorporate daily eye exercises. Gently rub your palms and place them over closed eyes for a minute to warm and relax them. Perform simple exercises like rolling your eyes in circles, looking sideways, and shifting focus from near to far, to strengthen your eye muscles.

If challenges persist, it may indicate a more deep-rooted issue requiring personalized guidance. Consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner or an ophthalmologist, especially if discomfort continues. They can provide treatments and remedies tailored to your condition, ensuring safety.
