HELLO

ECZEMA THAT HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR MANY YEARS AND FLARES UP PERIODICALLY INDICATES A DEEP SEATED INTERNAL IMBALANCE RATHER THAN A PURELY SKIN LEVEL PROBLEM WHEN SUCH A CONDITION SUDDENLY BECOMES MORE SEVERE WITH INTENSE ITCHING AND SPREADING TO ARMS AND HANDS IT USUALLY MEANS THAT THE INTERNAL HEAT TOXIC LOAD AND IMMUNE REACTIVITY HAVE INCREASED

EVEN IF NO OBVIOUS EXTERNAL TRIGGER IS IDENTIFIED THIS TYPE OF FLARE UP CAN HAPPEN DUE TO GRADUAL INTERNAL ACCUMULATION OF IMPURITIES LONG TERM SUPPRESSION WITH ONLY TOPICAL CREAMS OR NATURAL FLUCTUATION OF THE BODY RESPONSE TOPICAL APPLICATIONS OFTEN CONTROL SYMPTOMS TEMPORARILY BUT DO NOT ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSE WHICH IS WHY THE CONDITION KEEPS RETURNING

FROM AN AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE THIS CONDITION CAN BE EFFECTIVELY CONTROLLED AND BROUGHT INTO LONG TERM REMISSION WHEN TREATED SYSTEMATICALLY THE AIM IS TO CALM INTERNAL INFLAMMATION PURIFY THE BLOOD AND STABILIZE THE SKIN RESPONSE

INTERNAL MEDICINES YOU CAN TAKE

MAHATIKTA GHRITA ONE TEASPOON ONCE DAILY ON EMPTY STOMACH WITH WARM WATER

GANDHAKA RASAYANA ONE TABLET TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD

KHADIRARISHTA 15 ML TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD WITH EQUAL QUANTITY OF WATER

FOR LOCAL APPLICATION NIMBA TAILA OR MAHATIKTA TAILA APPLY A THIN LAYER OVER AFFECTED AREAS TWICE DAILY

WITH CONSISTENT INTERNAL TREATMENT THE INTENSITY OF ITCHING REDNESS AND SPREAD CAN BE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL AND THE FREQUENCY OF FLARE UPS CAN BE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED

Hello, Eczema can be very well managed with ayurveda, diet-lifestyle changes. Diet- 1. Please avoid processed food, outside food, the food which very sour, salty and spicy

Lifestyle- 1. As one reason could be the dry weather/pollution. So during winters make sure that you apply oil to the whole body everyday 30 minutes before going to shower.

Ayurveda- 1. As the condition is long standing a course of panchakarma will be very useful. Please consult an ayurveda doctor who has panchakarma set up near you place. Till then you can use the following: 1. Eczemed nano ointment(pentacare) for external application. 2. Thikthamrit capsules(pavaman) 2----0-----2 after breakfast and after dinner for 90 days. 3. Thikthakam Ghritham 1 tsp in the morning with a cup of boiled warm water in the empty stomach for 45 days.

Take care, Kind regards.

Hello Thanks for opening up about your struggles. Living with eczema for years—especially when your hands flare up out of nowhere and itch like crazy—sounds exhausting. It messes with daily life and can really wear you down. But dont worry we are here to help you out 😊

AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING

In Ayurveda, eczema lines up with something called Vicharchika (a chronic skin issue). From what you’ve shared, here’s what’s probably going on:

- You’ve had this for ages, so the problem runs deep in your system. - The way it keeps coming back? That’s usually because the root causes weren’t fully cleared out before. - The itching and sudden flare-ups point to your Pitta and Kapha being out of balance, plus some issues with the blood (Rakta). - Since your hands and fingers are hit hardest, Vata is likely involved too, making things stick around longer.

Even if you can’t spot an exact trigger, flares happen. Why? Toxins build up, foods clash with your body, the seasons shift, stress ramps up, your gut and skin get out of sync, or you’ve used steroid creams for too long and now your skin rebounds.

Can You Actually Get Rid of Eczema?

Ayurveda sees chronic eczema as something you can manage long-term. It’s not incurable. If you deal with the real reasons behind it—detox, settle things down, and stick to the right foods—flare-ups can get much less intense, and you can keep itching in check.

Ayurvedic Treatment Plan

1. Internal Medicines These help clean the blood, steady your immunity, and calm the itch.

- Gandhaka Rasayana 1-0-1 after food Purifies your blood, cuts down itching and inflammation, and helps your skin fight back. Especially good for stubborn, long-term cases.

- Mahamanjishthadi Kwatha 15ml-0-15ml +45 ml water A strong blood purifier. It soothes redness, burning, and helps stop flares from coming back.

- Haridra Khanda 1 tap with warm water after breakfast Great for controlling itching and allergic skin reactions. Also helps balance your gut and skin.

- Kaishore Guggulu 1-0-1 after food Works well for chronic, inflamed skin. Clears out deep-seated toxins, so it’s useful if your eczema keeps returning.

- Triphala Churna ½ tsp with warm water at bed time Gets rid of toxins, supports digestion, and makes sure those toxins don’t come back to haunt your skin.

EXTERNAL CARE

- Mahamarichyadi Taila
These oils bring down itching and scaling, fight off germs, and ease inflammation. Just put on a thin layer once a day.

- washing with lukewarm water.
Hot water just fires up the itching and throws your Pitta off.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION

❌Avoid:

- Fermented foods - Anything sour, spicy, or fried - Bakery stuff - Curd at night - Alcohol and seafood - Reheated oils

Go for:

- Simple, fresh-cooked meals - Bitter veggies (like lauki, tori, karela) - Rice and moong dal - Sip warm water through the day

A few lifestyle changes

- Don’t scratch (it only makes things worse and ups your risk of infection) - Keep your nails short - Wear only cotton clothes - Skip chemical soaps and detergents

Panchakarma—Highly Recommended

With eczema that’s been around for 10 years, pills and creams usually aren’t enough. Panchakarma (Ayurvedic detox treatments) make a real difference. The top choices:

- Virechana (to detoxify Pitta and the blood) - Raktamokshana (bloodletting, but only in special cases)

Panchakarma can cut down how often you flare, help your meds work better, and even get you into long-term remission.

If things suddenly got worse after years, it usually means the eczema has gone deeper—maybe because it was pushed down with creams before. Now it needs a more thorough, inside-out fix. Don’t lose hope. Ayurveda can really help you get control, as long as you treat the whole picture.

Warm regards, Dr Snehal Vidhate

HELLO,

Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes itching, redness, dryness, scaling and sometimes oozing. In Ayurveda, eczema is called Vicharchika or Kshdra kustha, and it happen due to imbalance of the body energies (dosha)- mainly

-Pitta dosha= causes redness, burning sensation, intense itching, inflammation

-Vata dosha= causes dryness, cracking, scaling, roughness

-Kapha dosha (sometimes)= can cause thickened skin, oozing, or sticky discharge

WHY YOUR FLARE UP IS HAPPENING Even if you have chronic eczema, sudden flare-ups can occur due to

-Internal factors= accumulation of toxins (ama), imbalance in digestive fire (agni), stress, weak immunity

-External factors= harsh soaps, detergents, friction, extreme temperatures, exposure to allergens (dust, chemicals, pollen)

CHRONICITY= Eczema can’t always be completely “cured” but can be effectively controlled, reducing frequency , intensity, and severity of flare ups

TREATMENT GOALS

1) ACUTE GOAL (during flare ups) -reduce itching, redness, swelling, oozing -cool the skin and pacify pitta -prevent secondary infection

2) CHRONIC/ LONG-TERM GOAL -balance vata and pitta to prevent recurrence -detoxify the body and improve digestion and immunity -strengthen skin barrier and overall skin health

INTERNAL TREATMENT

A) DETOX AND BLOOD PURIFICATION

1) NEEM CAPSULES= 500mg in morning with warm water =anti inflammatory, immune modulating

2) GUDUCHI GHAN VATI= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =improves immunity and detoxifies pitta

2) MANJISTHADI KAHSAYA= 20 ml twice daily before meals with warm water =detoxifies skin and improves complexion

3) GANDHAK RASAYANA= 1 tab twice daily after meals =acts as Rasayana,a boosts immunity, prevents infection

4) SARIVADI VATI= 1 tab twice daily after meals =cooling and soothing balances pitta and rakta

5) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at night =gentle bowel cleansing, supports skin health

B) ANTI-INFLAMMATORY SUPPORT

-HARIDRAKHANDA= 1 tsp wtith milk twice daily

-ALOE VERA JUICE (internal cooling)= 1-2 tsp/day

DURATION= 4-6 weeks

EXTERNAL TREATMENT

CLEANSING -use lukewarm water infused with Neem leaves or triphala powder = cleanses, prevents infection, and reduces itching

TOPICAL APPLICATIONS -Coconut oil + few drops of neem oil = apply gently twice daily- soothes dryness, antibacterial

-Neem + turmeric paste= apply 1-2 times daily, cooling, anti inflammatory, antibacterial

-KAILAS JEEVAN OR ALOE VERA GEL=for mild itching or redness- cooling and mositurizing

-KUMKUMADI TAILA (night)= if skin becomes too dark or patchy= improves texture and tone

Avoid steroid creams or perfumed lotions, as they can worsen dryness over time

DIET AND LIFESTYLE -warm, freshly cooked food with a little ghee -green leafy vegetables boiled/spiced lightly -fruits=pomegranate, apple, papaya, amla -whole grains= rice, wheat, millets -herbal teas with tulsi, guduchi , or licorice -adequate water intake warm water preferred

AVOID -curd, cheese, panner, and other dairy especially at night -fried, oily, and spicy foods -sour foods - vinegar, pickles, citrus in excess -junk foods, bakery items, soft drinks -late night sleep ,irregular eating -excessive stress or overthinknig increases vata

YOGA ASANAS -bhujangasana= improves blood flow to skin -ardha matysnedrasana= enhances digestion -tadasana and vrikshasana= stabilises vata -pawanmuktasana= relieves bloating, aids detox

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= balances all doshas -Bhramari= calms the mind and reduces itching related to stress -Sheetali/sheetkari= cooling, helps pitta related burning or redness

HOME REMEDIES -Neem and turmeric paste- apply on itchy areas 1-2 times/week -anti septic, anti inflamatory -Coconut oil with camphor tiny pinch- for night application- relieves itching and dryness -Aloe vera pulp + sandalwood powder - apply as a mask- cools and soothes skin -Drink turmeric. milk 1/4 tsp turmeric in warm milk nightly- supports internal cleansing -Bath with oatmeal or green gram powder- natural cleanser for sensitive skin

BATH THERAPIES -Add neem, Mnajistha, or Turmeric decoction to lukewarm water and soak affected areas for 10-15 min -avoid hot water, soaps, and chemical detergents

LIFESTYLE MODIFICATIONS

1) ENVIRONMENT -keep skin cool, avoid excessive sun -use cotton gloves for hands to prevent scratching at night -wear soft, breathable clothes

2) STRES MANAGEMENT -stress can trigger flare ups -practice meditation, deep breathing, and positive routines

Eczema is a chronic but reversible condition. Ayurveda treats is holistically- by cleansing toxins, nourishing skin and restoring internal harmony The key lies in -consistency with herbal medicines -proper diet and regular lifestyle -avoiding known triggers -keeping a cam, stress free mind Once the doshas are balanced and digestion is strong, skin regains its natural softness and glow- with fewer flare ups

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your long standing skin concern I understand how exhausting and frustrating it can be to live with eczema for so many years and then suddenly experience a severe flare with intense itching especially on the hands and arms

Based on what you have described this flare up is not just a surface skin issue but a reflection of internal imbalance that has gradually built up over time In chronic eczema the blood immune response digestion and stress handling capacity of the body all play a role Even when there is no clear external trigger internal heat toxin accumulation reduced skin immunity and long term use of topical creams can suddenly express as a severe episode

Eczema can be properly controlled and brought into a stable dormant phase when treatment is taken internally along with correct external care and lifestyle discipline The aim is to calm inflammation purify the blood reduce itching strengthen skin tissues and prevent repeated flares rather than only suppressing symptoms

For internal support neem capsule one capsule twice daily after food helps in blood purification and reduces itching and inflammation

Kayakalpa vati one tablet twice daily after food supports skin healing and improves tissue regeneration Mahamanjistadi aristha fifteen ml twice daily after meals mixed with equal quantity of water helps cleanse the blood and reduces chronic skin inflammation

For external application Kayakalpa taila should be applied over the affected areas twice daily preferably after bathing and before sleep

Avoid steroid based creams during this phase unless absolutely required

Avoid spicy fried fermented and packaged foods Reduce sugar tea coffee and bakery items Take simple freshly cooked food keep hydration adequate avoid harsh soaps frequent washing and scratching Stress management and proper sleep are also important for long term control

Common causes can be seasonal dryness, stress (even low-level), dietary slip (hidden dairy/gluten/junk), over-use/irritation from previous topicals or immune shift (post-infection/allergy).

It cannot always be cured permanently (chronic autoimmune tendency), but can be properly controlled

Medicines 1 Kaishore Guggulu – 2 tablets morning + 2 tablets night after food 2 Gandhak Rasayan – 250 mg morning + night with water 3 Manjisthadi Kwath – 20 ml + 60 ml warm water morning empty stomach 4 Haridrakhand – 5–10 gm night with warm water

Topical (twice daily) Wash with Triphala water (soak 1 tsp Triphala overnight and strain) Apply Jatyadi Ghrita + Panchatikta Ghrita in thin layer (heals cracks, reduces itching & redness)

Diet & Triggers Give daily: moong khichdi + ghee, pomegranate, coconut water, cooked bottle gourd Avoid completely: dairy (milk/curd/cheese), gluten (wheat/roti), spicy/sour, fried, junk, nightshades (tomato/brinjal) No hot showers, lukewarm only, pat dry gently

Lifestyle Avoid scratching (use cotton gloves at night if needed) Moisturize immediately after bath Sleep 10 PM – 6 AM
