Hello, There are 2 types of practice: 1. Pratimarsha nasyam where 2 drops of thailam is instilled to each nostril every day in the morning. This type comes under part of dinacharya(the daily routine explained in ayurveda) 2. Marsha nasyam: here the drops instilled is increased for certain no.of days, then decresed again, where the no.of days, type of oil, no.of drops are decided by the attending ayurveda doctor. Th erestrictions you are mentioning are for this kind of nasyam(this is part of panchakarma) Take care, Kind regards.

✔ Do Nasya early morning, after natural urges, before breakfast ✔ Best time: 6–9 am ❌ Never at night ❌ Never immediately after bath or exercise - Empty stomach is mandatory ✔ Stomach should be empty ✔ Warm water before Nasya is OK ❌ No food, coffee, tea, fruits before - Purva Karma (Pre-Nasya prep) - Mandatory steps: Gentle face, neck, shoulder oil massage (2–5 minutes) Mild steam to face (just enough to open channels) ❌ No steam = oil won’t penetrate properly ❌ Dry nose Nasya = irritation risk -Correct posture during instillation ✔ Lie on back ✔ Head tilted slightly backward ✔ Neck supported (rolled towel) ❌ Sitting upright ❌ Head hanging too far back This affects where the oil travels. -Correct dose For wellness Nasya: 2 drops per nostril (max 3) Same oil throughout the 7 days (don’t rotate daily) ❌ More oil ≠ better results ❌ Excess causes heaviness, kapha aggravation -Post-Nasya position & actions After instillation: Stay lying down 2–3 minutes Gentle inhalation Spit out oil/mucus — do not swallow ✔ Mild massage around nose, cheeks, forehead -Paschat Karma (Aftercare) – STRICT ✔ Gargle with warm water ✔ Light steam inhalation if needed ✔ Wait minimum 30 minutes before: Warm water Warm kanji Any food ❌ Cold water ❌ Cold drinks ❌ Tooth brushing immediately after -Avoid cold exposure For full 7 days: ❌ Cold water head bath ❌ AC / cold wind directly on face ❌ Night travel in cold air -Food discipline ✔ Warm, light, freshly cooked food ✔ Soups, kanji, kichadi ❌ Curd (especially morning/night) ❌ Ice, refrigerated food ❌ Excessively spicy or fried food -Avoid these activities ❌ Day sleeping ❌ Heavy exercise ❌ Loud speaking, shouting, singing ❌ Screen strain immediately after Nasya -Mental state matters ✔ Calm, relaxed mindset ✔ Avoid stress, anger right after Nasya -Oil- Anu Tailam → Best overall, safest for 7 days Brahmi Tailam → Excellent, but stop if heaviness or dull headache appears Sesame oil → Only if well tolerated; slightly heavier - When to STOP Nasya immediately Even if planned for 7 days: Headache increasing daily Nausea Excessive heaviness in head Burning sensation in nose Tq

Hello It’s awesome you’re doing Nasya for your well-being, especially with those classic oils like Anu Tailam, Brahmi Tailam, and Sesame oil—great for your brain, sinuses, and immunity! Since you’re healthy and doing the 7-day Nasya thing, doing it right is key to getting the benefits without any irritation. Here are some must-follow rules. Straight from Charaka & Ashtanga Hridaya! NASYA RULES– No Cheating! ✅Time is Everything! Only do Nasya: ✔ Morning (6–9 AM) OR ✔ Evening (5–7 PM) ❌ Never at night ❌ Not right after waking up ❌ Not after eating Keep your stomach light, but not empty. ✅Warm-Up is a Must! Before the oil: Put warm oil on your: • Face • Neck • Shoulders Then, a little steam (face steam or hot towel) for 3–5 minutes. This helps the oil reach deep into your sinuses and brain. ✅ Head Position Matters! Lie down with: – Head tilted back – Nose pointing up – Small pillow under your shoulders This gets the oil to the Shringataka marma (where your brain and sinuses meet). ✅ Get the Dose Right! For daily wellness: – Just 2 drops per nostril No more! Too much can cause headaches, heaviness, or blocked sinuses. ✅ Spit & Gargle! After Nasya: • Spit out the oil and mucus • Gargle with warm salt water Don’t swallow the oil. The 30-Minute Rule (You got this!) For 30 minutes after Nasya: – No water – No food – No talking – No phone – No walking – No fans or wind Just sit or lie quietly. This lets the oil soak into your brain tissues. Food Rules for 7 Days! (Seriously!) During your Nasya course: ❌AVOID – Cold water – Curd – Ice – AC – Staying up late – Fried food – Bakery stuff – Too much tea/coffee These will cancel out the Nasya benefits. Bathing Rules NO head baths for 24 hours after Nasya. You can shower your body after 1 hour with warm water. Sleep Rules Don’t nap during the day for these 7 days. Daytime sleep can block your sinuses after Nasya. Breathing After Nasya: • Breathe slowly through your nose • No fast pranayama • No Kapalbhati Why so strict? Nasya sends medicine right to your: • Brain • Pituitary gland • Sinuses • Nervous system Wrong timing or cold can cause things like: – Sinusitis –Headache – Heaviness – Cold – Brain fog You’re doing Nasya for rejuvenation, so sticking to the rules will give you: – Better memory – Stronger immunity – Clear sinuses – Better mood Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

✓Timing of warm water / kanji Nothing by mouth (even water) for minimum 30 minutes after Nasya. After 30 min - only warm water / warm kanji / light warm liquid allowed. No cold drink, juice, tea, coffee, milk for at least 1 hour. ✓Post-Nasya position Lie flat on back for 5–10 minutes immediately after drops (head slightly tilted back). Then turn to each side for 2 min each → spit out any oil/mucus that comes to throat (do NOT swallow). ✓No food right after Light breakfast only after 1 hour minimum (preferably after 90 min). No heavy, oily, spicy, sour, cold food the whole day. ✓No exposure No cold wind, AC, fan directly on face/head. Cover head/ears with cloth or cap when going out (especially in winter/AC room). No head bath / hair wash on Nasya days (or at least avoid for 4–6 hours after). ✓No suppression Do NOT suppress natural urges (sneezing, yawning, burping, passing gas/stool/urine). Spit out mucus freely – never swallow. ✓Daily consistency Same time every morning (empty stomach, after toilet & face wash). No skipping even one day in 7-day course.
