-If the optic nerve is damaged by 90%, it usually cannot recover because the optic nerve does not regenerate. Treatment is focused on preventing further damage, not restoring lost vision. Ayurveda may help with irritation, but it cannot repair optic nerve damage or safely control high eye pressure. An eye specialist’s treatment is necessary to protect the remaining vision. — so kindly visit ayurveda shalkya specialist for proper evaluation and decision of treatment.

Hello So, you’re 53, dealing with optic nerve problems, eye pressure, and some irritation for a few months now. You’re wondering if getting back to 90% vision is doable and if Ayurveda can actually make a difference in how you see, ease the pressure, and protect your eyes. Totally get why you’re asking – it’s a big deal! AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING From an Ayurvedic point of view, optic nerve problems are seen as a Drishti Nadi Dushti. It’s like: – Your Vata is drying out the nerve, making it weak. – Your Pitta is causing swelling and pressure. – The Rakta dhatu (blood) isn’t flowing well to the nerve. This can end up in: – The nerve not sending signals right. – Eye hurting. – Pressure building up. – Vision slowly getting worse. If you don’t take care of it, it could turn into something like glaucoma. So, the goal here is to: – Keep the nerve from getting worse. – Ease off the eye pressure. – Get the blood flowing better to the nerve. – Help the nerve cells get better. – Keep what vision you have and maybe even see better. AYURVEDIC PLAN INTERNAL MEDICATION 1. Saptamrit Lauh – 2 tablets, twice a day 2 Mahatriphala Ghrita – 1 tsp, twice a day 3. Punarnava Mandur– 2 tablets, twice a day 4. Brahmi Vati – 2 tablets, twice a day 5. Chandraprabha Vati – 2 tablets, twice a day These should help with blood flow, bring down the pressure, and feed the optic nerve. Things to Do (Really Important): To be done under ayurvedic shalkya (eye expert) – Netra Tarpana – Shirodhara – Nasya with Anu Taila These should get the circulation going in the optic nerve and lower that eye pressure. HOME REMEDIES: – Wash your eyes with Triphala water. – Put ghee in your nose (Pratimarsha Nasya)- 2 drops in each nostrils – Drink carrot juice. – Have some Amla. What to Eat: Eat more: – Ghee – Green veggies – Carrots – Pumpkin – Fruits – Nuts Avoid – Tea – Coffee – Screen time – Late nights LIFESTYLE: – Relax your eyes. – Don’t stare at your phone too much. – Do yoga and breathing exercises. – Get enough sleep. One last thing: If the nerve damage is pretty recent, getting back 30–50% of your vision might be possible. Getting all the way back to 90% is probably not going to happen, but we can try to stop it from getting worse and keep the vision you’ve got. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

90% optic nerve damage is severe & usually irreversible No Ayurvedic medicine, Panchakarma or herb has proven ability to regrow or restore 90% damaged optic nerve fibers. If cause was glaucoma / ischemic optic neuropathy / trauma / optic neuritis then damage is permanent in most cases. ✓Ayurveda can help to Improve micro-circulation to surviving nerve fibers Relieve eye pressure, irritation, dryness, burning Support overall eye health & slow further progression ✓Medicines Triphala Ghrita – 5–10 gm morning with warm water or milk Saptamrita Loha – 250 mg twice daily after food with ghee + honey Praval Pishti – 250 mg twice daily with cold water Anu Taila Nasya – 2 drops each nostril morning ✓Daily Routine Netra Tarpana (if possible at Ayurvedic center) – ghee eye bath 7–14 days Warm ghee eye massage (outer eyelids only) + palming 5–10 min twice daily Avoid bright light, screens, rubbing eyes ✓Do not rely on Ayurveda for optic nerve regeneration , it is supportive only Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

Thanks Dr. Gursimran Jeet Singh. Sir ji there is no cure in allopathy and as you said in ayurveda too, we are in 21st century AI Era and everything possible in Health Sector for almost all diseases. But don’t know exactly why the opthalmology haven’t that much research to treat the optic nerve might be Trauma or As you mentioned other reasons there, now my worry is it’s only the left eye initially am suffering since 4 to 6 months almost but now am suffering with my right eye too heavy pressure on both eyes and pain there, as I visited few doctors like famous and the best hospitals in Hyderabad both neuro and opthalmology but they haven’t told me the exact reason and treatment for this. Am feeling helpless with this situation, I thought our ancient history of having many cures through ayurvedic procedures that’s why am seeking advice or suggestions here to preserve my both eyes as I lost my two original things in my body are artificial now. So am humbly requesting you all please help me out from this situation by suggesting me the best to save my eyes. Thanks one and all. 👍

In Ayurveda, raised eye pressure and optic nerve compromise are seen under tridoshaja eye disorders, with predominance of Vata-pitta imbalance leading to obstruction in the channels (srotas) GOALS OF AYURVEDIC SUPPORT -Reduce vata-pitta aggravation -Improve Netra dhatus (eye tissue nutrition) -Support circulation and fluid balance -Provide gentle, non invasive measures given advanced age. INTERNAL MEDICINES 1) TRIPHALA GHRITA= 1/4 tsp with warm water at night, if digestion allows. =nourishes optic nerve and supports eye health 2) PUNARNAVADI KASHAYA= 25ml + warm water after meals =useful in reducing fluid retention and balancing kapha-vata, but must be used cautiously in CKD . 3) TRIPHALA CHOORNA EYE WASH= soak 1/2 tsp triphala powder in water overnight, filter very well, use strained water for gentle eyewash in the morning (if tolerated) LOCAL/ OCULAR THERAPIES -NETRA TARPANA= (gentle ghee/oil pooling therapy) -=usually done in Ayurvedic clinics, but at advanced age and high IOP, only mild lubrication with medicated ghee (e.g- Mahatriphal ghrita eye drops, 1 drop once daily) may be considered -ANJANA (collyrium)= avoid strong rasanjana or irritant collyriums in elderly DIET AND LIFESTYLE SUPPORT -Favour cooling, light, sattvik diet= boiled vegetables, gourds, leafy vegetables (spinach, kela), barley, and moong dal -Avoid=excess salt, fermented foods, spicy/oily food, heavy curd, excessive tea/coffee -Stay hydrated, but follow fluid restriction as per CKD management -Gentle breathing= sheetali pranayam, Anulom-vilom- helps reduce stress and regulate intraocular pressure SIMPLE HOME EYE CARE -cold compress with clean cloth dipped in cool water- soothes burning and reduces strain -Gentle palming (rubbing palms, placing over eyes - relaxes optic nerves) -Adequate rest, avoid bright glare, excessive TV/ Phone KEY CONSIDERATIONS -At IOP= 45, vision loss can progress rapidly-> do not stop allopathic drops -Ayurvedic measures here are supportive, not curative at this stage DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU

Optic nerve damage needs very careful management. If damage is already around 90%, full recovery is usually not guaranteed, but supportive treatment may help slow progression, support remaining function and improve comfort depending on the cause. Ayurveda can be used as supportive care to reduce inflammation, support eye health and improve overall balance, but it should not replace regular eye specialist follow-up, especially if eye pressure is involved. Helpful measures may include: • Proper sleep and reducing eye strain (screen breaks, good lighting) • Supporting digestion and reducing excess heat or inflammation through diet • Selected internal or external therapies may be considered individually after assessment Because optic nerve health is delicate, a personalized consultation is strongly recommended so treatment is safe and coordinated with ophthalmology care.
