What Ayurvedic foods should I avoid for rosacea and what could bumps on my nails mean? - #54826
I have 2 issues i'd like help with. 1. rosacea. I'm trying to understand which foods might be triggers for me, so far cutting down on obvious heating foods such as chili but also tomato. I cut out kefir because i heard dairy can be a trigger. I'm trying some supplements such as turmeric and mil thistle. SO wondering what the ayurvedic suggestions might be. 2. bumps on my nails, which i read can be associated with a number of things but just wanted to get some thoughts on it. It's definitely gone down since i started taking some liver cleansing supplements (lecithin) and b1. Thanks!

1. Rosacea Rosacea is often linked in Ayurveda to Pitta imbalance — excess heat in the blood and skin. -Food triggers: You’re right to avoid chili, tomato, and dairy. Other common Pitta‑aggravating foods include vinegar, alcohol, fried/oily foods, and very sour fruits. -Supportive foods: Cooling, hydrating items like cucumber, coriander, fennel, pomegranate, coconut water, and leafy greens. -Ayurvedic suggestions: Sariva (Hemidesmus indicus) powder — 2 g twice daily with warm water, helps cool the blood. Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia) powder — 2 g twice daily with warm water, supports skin clarity and reduces redness. Aloe vera juice — 20 ml once daily, soothing for Pitta and skin. -Lifestyle: Avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, practice Sheetali pranayama (cooling breath), and keep stress under control with meditation. 2. Bumps on Nails In Ayurveda, nail health reflects Asthi dhatu (bone tissue) and liver function. -Since you noticed improvement with liver‑support supplements, this aligns with the Ayurvedic view that Rakta (blood) and Yakrit (liver) health directly affect nails. -Ayurvedic suggestions: Arogyavardhini vati — 1 tablet twice daily with warm water, supports liver and digestion. Triphala churna — 3 g at night with warm water, gentle detox and digestion support. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) powder — 2 g twice daily with warm water, immunity and liver support.
rosacea in Ayurveda mainly suggests Pitta and Rakta (blood heat) imbalance. Spicy foods, tomatoes, alcohol, excess coffee, fried foods, vinegar, and fermented foods like excess kefir can trigger flare-ups. Prefer: Cooling foods: cucumber, bottle gourd, pumpkin, coriander, coconut water, pomegranate, soaked raisins Mild spices: fennel, coriander, cardamom Fresh, simple meals with less oil and heat Helpful Ayurvedic herbs: Amla Guduchi (Giloy) Manjistha Coriander-fennel water Turmeric may help inflammation, but high doses can sometimes increase heat in sensitive people. The nail bumps may relate to mild Vata imbalance, stress, or minor vitamin/mineral deficiency. Since they improved with B1 and lecithin, nutritional support is likely helping. For nails: Include soaked almonds, sesame, pumpkin seeds, green vegetables, and good hydration. Maintain proper sleep and stress control.
