Ayurvedic Chikitsa for Nasal Blockage and Ear Fullness

Nasya Therapy (Nasal Oil): Instill 2-3 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril daily morning after steam inhalation. This clears nasal passages and reduces congestion. Steam Inhalation: Add a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds) or eucalyptus oil to hot water and inhale steam twice a day. This soothes nasal blockage and ear fullness. Herbal Remedies: Take Sitopaladi Churna (1 tsp) with honey twice a day for postnasal drip and congestion. Use Trikatu Churna (½ tsp) with warm water before meals to improve metabolism and reduce snoring. Dietary Guidelines: Avoid cold, oily, and heavy foods. Prefer warm, light meals like soups, dal, and steamed vegetables. Drink warm water infused with ginger and tulsi to reduce kapha and clear blockages. Lifestyle Tips: Perform Jal Neti (saline nasal rinse) daily for cleansing nasal passages. Practice Bhramari Pranayama to reduce snoring and ear pressure. Weight Management: Obesity aggravates nasal blockage and snoring. Follow a kapha-reducing diet with regular exercise (yoga or brisk walking). Consistency with these practices will bring relief over time. If symptoms persist, consult an Ayurvedic physician.

That’s a long time to be dealing with nasal blockage. It’s like your nostrils are playing musical chairs or something. I totally get why you’re fed up with it, and the blocked ear and snoring are just adding more to it. Let’s see if Ayurveda can give us a different perspective here.

The symptoms you’re describing may be related to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha. Kapha governs the body’s structure and fluids, among other things, and when it’s out of balance, it can create blockages and excess mucus. Ojas, which is the essence of our tissues, could also be affected, leading to immune issues or that snoring you talked about.

First off, consider making some changes to your diet to help reduce Kapha. Try to avoid cold, heavy, oily, or overly sweet foods and instead, incorporate lighter and warming foods. Spices like black pepper, ginger, and turmeric can aid in balancing Kapha and may improve your symptoms. Drinking warm ginger tea might be beneficial.

Nasya, which is an Ayurvedic practice involving nasal oil, could really help with the nasal blockage. A few drops of warm, herbalized oil (like Anu Taila), administered in the nostrils usually helps in clearing the nasal passages. Do this in the morning, but make sure you tilt your head back a bit to help the oil get where it’s needed.

Steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil or a pinch of turmeric can also work to clear out your nasal passages and support your breathing process, though, be careful not overdo it!

Consider a regular massage with warm sesame oil which might help, not just with the congestion, but help you feel all over more relaxed.

If your snoring and ear fullness persist, you might want to consult an ENT specialist. Just to rule out any mechanical issues that need immediate attention. Sometimes, Ayurveda works best alongside conventional care.

Let me know if these make sense for you, or if you need more details on how to apply these.
