Experiencing indigestion and a burning sensation, often due to acid reflux or GERD, can be distressing. Ayurveda focuses on balancing the digestive fire, or agni, to improve digestion and alleviate discomfort. Your symptoms suggest an imbalance in pitta dosha, which can lead to increased acidity and inflammation.

First, consider adjusting your diet to pacify pitta. Avoid spicy, oily, and acidic foods, which can aggravate your condition. Instead, incorporate cooling foods like coconut water, cucumber, and green leafy vegetables. Eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day can help support your digestion—try to eat slowly and chew thoroughly.

Drink warm, herbal infusions such as fennel seed, coriander, and cumin tea to aid digestion and cool the body. Boil the seeds in water, let it steep for a few minutes, and sip slowly a couple of times a day. Aloe vera juice can also be soothing; consider consuming a small amount before meals to both enhance digestion and cool internal heat.

It’s important to maintain a regular daily routine to manage doshic balance better. Wake up and sleep at consistent times. Engage in moderate physical activity like walking or yoga—particularly, postures like Vajrasana (diamond pose) after meals can improve digestion.

Avoid delaying bowel movements, as it can cause further digestive issues. Triphala, an Ayurvedic herbal remedy, may help regularize bowel movements; take it at bedtime with warm water.

If your symptoms like the burning sensation persist, seek medical attention promptly to rule out any serious underlying conditions. While Ayurveda offers holistic methods to manage digestion, ensure your overall well-being by consulting a healthcare provider for a comprehensive approach tailored to your needs.
