Headache and related symptoms you’re experiencing often connected with pitta dosha imbalance. It’s a kind of heat excess in the body that leads to symptoms like headaches, especially when exposed to sunlight or heat, and irritability. Let’s look at some practical strategies from Ayurveda to help alleviate your condition.

Start with cooling your system — focus on a pitta-pacifying diet. Include more of sweet, bitter, and astringent foods, like greens, cucumbers, melons, grapes, and pomegranates. Avoid spicy, oily, or fermented foods & beverages, they can aggrevate the pitta further. Integrating aloe vera juice or amla in your morning routine can help soothe pitta and improve digestion; try 20-30 ml of amla juice with warm water every morning.

Keep yourself well-hydrated, but consider drinking coconut water through the day, its naturally cooling. Gulkand, a sweet preserve of rose petals, also helps cool the system — consuming one teaspoon daily can aid in reducing internal heat and irritability.

Another important aspect is managing stress and ensuring proper rest. Regularly practicing pranayama, particularly Sheetali and Nadi Shodhana, can be effective in calming the mind and reducing stress. Take 15-20 minutes daily for these practices if possible, focusing on deep and rhythmic breathing.

Additionally, applying Brahmi oil to your scalp daily or every other night and rinsing it out in the morning can provide relief to burning scalp sensations and promote mental calming. Sleep hygiene is crucial; ensure a soothing environment for sleep, avoid screens before bed and opt for relaxing herbal teas like chamomile.

For emotional imbalance, engage in activities or pursue hobbies that genuinely interest you to connect more with yourself & reduce feelings of loneliness. Whether it’s art, music, or nature – allow yourself time for joyful engagements. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for a deeper analysis and tailored approach.
