A few weeks ago, my cousin was diagnosed with some kind of blockage in the ampulla, and the doctor said it was affecting his digestion. We had never even heard of the ampulla before, so this was completely new for us. From what we understood, it's some kind of structure in the digestive system where bile and pancreatic juices mix before going into the intestine. The doctor said the blockage might be due to gallstones or some kind of inflammation, but they need to do more tests. The problem started with him feeling heavy after meals, like food wasn't digesting properly. Then he started getting sharp pain in the upper abdomen, sometimes radiating to his back. He also had nausea on and off, and there were days when he would vomit after eating even a little. The worst part was when his skin started looking yellowish, and his eyes had a slight yellow tint. That's when the doctor suspected there was an issue with the ampulla and bile flow. They are suggesting an endoscopy to check what’s going on inside, but we’re worried about invasive procedures.
