Doctors prescribed interferon-ophthalmo drops, tobradex and tetracycline ointment, but it did not give results, they changed the drops to polynadim and floxal ointment, but the result is temporary. The 1st doctor diagnosed viral conjunctivitis The second was diagnosed with eyelid dermatitis with secondary conjunctivitis. Hello Kavya, What medication are you on? Also do you have fever or any other systemic symptoms? In Ayurveda, your symptoms may be related to an imbalance in Pitta and Kapha doshas, leading to inflammation and accumulation of toxins (Ama). Here's an Ayurvedic approach: Diet: Avoid hot, spicy, and fried foods that aggravate Pitta like chilli, peppers, fried food, vinegar, soya sauce etc Include cooling foods like bitter vegetables, squashes, cucumbers, leafy greens, and coconut water to reduce inflammation. Herbal Remedies: Triphala eyewash: Boil Triphala in water, cool it, strain properly and use as an eye rinse. It helps reduce inflammation and cleanse the eyes. Coriander seed water: Boil coriander seeds in water and use this to wash your eyes to soothe itching and redness. External Application: Apply a Turmeric and Aloe Vera paste on the eyelids (externally, not in the eyes) to reduce inflammation and support healing. Lifestyle: Rest your eyes: Avoid screen time, and give your eyes frequent breaks. Practice Pranayama to balance Pitta and reduce stress.

I understand your concern regarding the persistent swelling of the eyelids and redness of the eyes, along with the discomfort you've been experiencing. Given the symptoms you've described, including periodic itching and crusting of the eyelids, it's possible that your condition could be a combination of allergies and inflammation. In Ayurveda, it's essential to address both the internal and external aspects of your symptoms. You might benefit from Triphala eye wash, which can help cleanse and soothe the eyes; you can prepare it by mixing a few drops of Triphala extract in warm water and using an eye dropper. Additionally, applying Ghee (clarified butter) or Castor oil around the eyelids (being careful not to let it enter the eyes) can help with dryness and provide nourishment to the skin. Mahatiktaka Ghritam, a medicated ghee, can also be beneficial for skin and eye conditions; you can take 1 teaspoon daily. For internal support, consider taking Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) to help reduce inflammation and boost your immune system. It’s crucial to also assess your environment for potential allergens, such as dust, pollen, or pet dander, and avoid any known irritants. If your symptoms persist, it’s advisable to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can provide a more personalized treatment plan and further investigate the root cause of your condition.

Hey there, that sounds really frustrating, and it’s understandable you're searching for answers. Based on what you've described, it seems like there's an imbalance going on, both with doshas and maybe that pesky agni. In Ayurveda, swollen eyelids and redness could be linked to Pitta imbalance, often worsened by Vata. Let's dive into this. First, have you looked at your diet? Pitta can get all riled up with certain foods. Try to avoid spicy, sour, or salty things – Pitta loves to flare when you indulge in these. Cooling foods like cucumber, coriander, and aloe vera juice could be your best friends now. Cleanliness is super important too. Try washing your face with cool water several times a day. It helps in reducing that itchiness and doesn’t let any crust build up. But gently, don't rub it aggressively, just a soft splash should do. If needed, cotton pads soaked in rose water and placed over closed eyes can be really soothing. Pay attention to hydrating and resting. It’s easy to overlook but lack of proper sleep can make things worse. Ever tried Shirodhara? It’s quite effective in calming that Pitta, but you'll need to go to a well-trained therapist for that. Now, herbs like Triphala could help. You can try an eyewash with Triphala tea. Take a teaspoon of Triphala powder, boil it in water, let it cool and then strain it. You could wash your eyes with it gently – but be cautious, each body responds differently. Lightly massage the eyelids with ghee (clarified butter) at night, it soothes and nourishes. I’d say keep a close eye on the symptoms for any serious changes and maybe check back with a doc if things aren’t settling. Take it easy and give your body space to heal, it’s amazing how much a little love and good care can do.
