Lina

I have chronic sinus congestion and have to always keep a nasal clearing drop with me all the time. I also feel a lot of fatigue and sleep disruption due to congestion. I think it also affects the burning and pressure on my eyes. My eyes and left ear itch all the time. How do I treat them?

Age: 32
Chronic illnesses: Sinus congestion Allergic rhinitis IBS (I don't have it anymore but had it for a long time) I'm also allergic to aloe vera

I have gained comprehensive clinical experience through my internship and professional duties, which has laid a strong foundation for my medical practice. During my internship, I worked extensively across multiple departments, including casualty, general medicine, general surgery, and obstetrics & gynecology at the Government District Hospital, Gadag. This exposure allowed me to handle a variety of acute and chronic cases, sharpen my clinical assessment skills, and actively participate in patient management under the guidance of senior medical professionals. Following this, I served as a duty doctor at AYUSH Hospital, Gadag Betgeri, where I applied my Ayurvedic knowledge in a clinical setting and contributed to patient care in both outpatient and inpatient departments. I successfully completed 366 days of rigorous internship training at DGM Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Gadag, where I was involved in patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning under supervision. My time there allowed me to integrate classical Ayurvedic principles with practical patient care while developing a keen understanding of hospital operations and multidisciplinary collaboration. These experiences have enhanced my ability to handle diverse medical conditions confidently while maintaining a patient-centered approach. I am dedicated to continuing my journey as an Ayurvedic practitioner with the same passion and commitment, focusing on delivering quality, evidence-based, and holistic healthcare.

Chronic sinus congestion can be quite disruptive, especially if you live in a heavily polluted area. In Ayurveda, sinus issues are often related to a Kapha imbalance, which can be exacerbated by poor air quality. To address the symptoms you're experiencing, you could consider an integrative approach that combines dietary and lifestyle changes with some practical Ayurvedic remedies. First, working on reducing Kapha is critical. Try to follow a Kapha-pacifying diet, focusing on warm, light, and dry foods. Spices like ginger, black pepper, and turmeric can be particularly beneficial. They not only invigorate your agni (digestive fire) but also help clear mucus build-up. Reducing dairy products and foods high in sugar would also assist, as they can aggravate Kapha and mucus production. Practicing neti pot cleansing daily may help relieve congestion. Use saline water for nasal irrigation but ensure the water is clean and distilled. This method clears out impurities and decreases congestion, although it sometimes takes a bit getting used to. Breathing exercises like pranayama could significantly improve your symptoms. Try Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom every morning on an empty stomach, as they help open up the nasal passages and oxygenate the body, possibly reducing fatigue. Also, integrating steam inhalation into your routine, with a few drops of eucalyptus oil, might ease congestion and soothe itchy eyes. Your sleep disruption and fatigue could be related to poor sleep hygiene. Ensure your sleeping environment is conducive to relaxation. Using an air purifier in your bedroom might help by reducing airborne pollutants that can further irritate your sinuses. Lastly, Triphala is highly valued in Ayurveda for its detoxifying and balancing qualities. Consider taking it before bed, as it might help cleanse your system overnight, although be sure to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner to confirm the right dosage for you. Make sure to consult your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen. Persistent and severe sinus issues can sometimes be a sign of underlying issues that require professional medical attention.
