To address your PCOS and insulin resistance with an aim to regulate hormones, Ayurveda recommends a holistic approach that considers diet, lifestyle, and a few herbal remedies. Insulin resistance and PCOS often relate to an imbalance in Kapha and Pitta doshas, so some strategies can help in rebalancing them. Firstly, focus on your diet as it plays a crucial role. Consuming low glycemic index foods can manage your insulin levels better. Prefer whole grains like quinoa and brown rice over refined foods, but ensure to limit overall grain intake - sometimes a mistake to overdo even with healthier options. Concentrate on having vegetables that are light and dry such as bitter gourd and spinach three times a week minimum. More focus on lean protein could help, including legumes and lentils. Avoid processed foods, sugar, and trans fats which further worsen insulin resistance. Managing your stress through regular practice of yoga or meditation might assists in balancing your hormones. Yoga poses like Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) and Kapalabhati (Breath of Fire) might invigorate your system. Try these at least five times a week. Try introducing specific herbs in your routine like cinnamon which helps mimic insulin activity. Evening primrose oil and spearmint tea are known to help with hirsutism - you can sip a cup of tea twice a day. Consult with a local ayurvedic practitioner to help get these in the right measure though; each individual is different after all. For the hyperpigmentation due to shaving, a natural remedy is turmeric which has natural anti-inflammatory properties. A face pack with turmeric and milk can be applied twice a week to lighten your skin. Over time it may improve pigmentation, but it's not magic, takes consistency. Lastly, keep up with regular check-ups with your doctors to ensure all's well as you strive to manage all these facets. Do keep remembering combination with ayurveda and conventional medicine could give you best of both worlds' results!
