Improving digestion and relieving constipation can be a journey, especially considering the sedentary lifestyle from your software job. Triphala is a great start, as it’s a gentle bowel cleanser and supports digestion. However, relying too much on laxatives like dulcoflex might worsen things by making your bowel lazy. Let’s explore a more holistic approach.

Firstly, paying attention to your diet is key. Increase your intake of fiber through whole grains like oats, brown rice, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Adding psyllium husk (isabgol) to your routine can also help; mix it with warm water before bed. This helps build a bulky mass in your stools, making them easier to pass.

Next, let’s talk about your agni, the digestive fire. Drinking warm or hot water throughout the day supports agni, aiding digestion and metabolism. Spices like ginger, cumin, and ajwain are beneficial. Chewing a slice of fresh ginger with a pinch of salt before meals can stimulate digestive juices.

Keeping hydrated is crucial, but sometimes forgotten. Aim for 8-10 glasses of water a day, and start your morning with one or two glasses of warm water on an empty stomach to help kickstart your bowels.

Regular exercise, even simple stretching or walking, can alleviate constipation and back pain. Consider setting a timer for short breaks during your workday to stretch or take a brisk walk. Yoga poses like pavanamuktasana (wind-relieving pose) can specifically target digestive discomfort.

Mindful eating is also essential. Try to eat meals calmly without distractions, chewing thoroughly. This mindful approach supports better digestion.

Stress can aggravate constipation and digestive problems. Practice relaxation techniques like deep-breathing or meditation to keep stress levels in check.

If symptoms persist despite lifestyle and dietary changes, consult an efficient Ayurvedic practitioner. They can determine if there’s a deeper dosha imbalance and recommend personalized treatments.

Addressing minor issues before they escalate is key, so it’s great you’re seeking solutions now.
