From what you’re describing, it seems like a strong case of Vata and Kapha imbalance, particularly due to exposure to dust which can aggravate allergies and respiratory discomfort. In Ayurveda, we look to balance these doshas and strengthen your body’s defenses. Let’s aim to manage those symptoms and provide relief.

First, let’s start with your immediate environment. Reducing dust can be really helpful. Consider using air purifiers or keeping windows and doors closed during high pollen or dust times. Vacuum your living spaces regularly. You might find relief using a saline nasal spray to keep nasal passages clear.

Your diet also plays a significant role. Warm foods like soups and herbal teas, particularly those with ginger or turmeric, can enhance your Agni, or digestive fire, and help balance Kapha. Avoid cold, heavy foods like dairy, fried foods, and processed sugars which can increase mucus production. A warm drink made from a mixture of honey, ginger, black pepper and Tulsi (Holy basil) taken twice a day can help soothe the throat and ease coughing.

You may incorporate breathing exercises or Pranayama in your daily routine. Anuloma Viloma and Kapalbhati can help strengthen the respiratory system. Ensure to practice in a clean area to avoid triggers. Doing steam inhalation with eucalyptus or a few drops of mint oil can help to clear nasal congestion and ease breathing.

Consider using Sitopaladi Churna, an Ayurvedic formulation known to relieve cough and respiratory distress. Mix one teaspoon with honey, and consume it before meals. However, always check with an Ayurveda physician before starting any new supplements, especially if you’re taking other medications.

If symptoms persist regularly and impact your sleep, it’s essential to consult a healthcare professional to rule out conditions like asthma. Severity, like wheezing, may require conventional medical intervention and an integrative approach that complements Ayurveda with modern medicine.

By addressing these lifestyle, dietary, and herbal changes, you can manage symptoms and improve overall respiratory health.
