After Attaining menopause there will be Calcium depletion in female body, because of that there may some osteoporotic changes which may worsen by age. Here we need treatment with some rejuvenative therapies too Please take an Xray of both knees( Ap& lateral view)& blood test- Vit.D & Calcium

Likely diagnosis on the symptoms you mentioned can be primenopausal transition with osteoarthritic changes Women in 40-50’s commonly go through this and during which Estrogen hormone level gets fluctuate and begin to decline which leads to - irregular bleeding, joint pain back pain and in females they tend to get VITAMIN D deficiency which can lead to joint disorders
Will suggest you to check for her VITAMIN D and B 12 blood test And for X RAY of knees to see for osteroarthritic changes
And you can start with Trayodashang guggulu and yogaraj guggulu - both 1 tab each daily with warm water two times a day after meals for joint pain And shallaki MR tab - 1 twice a day
For hormonal balance and period complain can start with taking ASHOKARISHTA - 15ml with warm water twice a day and Shatavari kalpa with milk at bed time
And start one RASAYANA - Amalaki Rasayana- 1tsp in morning daily
Apply Mahanarayana Taila - warm oil and massage for 15-20 minutes daily followed by steam
And tell her to include sesame seeds , soaked almonds and fenugreek in her diet Avoid sour, fermented food
Gentle joint rotation exercise, vajrasana, bhujangasana, setubandhasana daily for mobility
Include GHEE in diet that will nourish joint
Thank you
As you’re telling that your mother didn’t had periods for last one year that might be indication of perimenopausal state So to rule out better to go for ultra sound abdomen and pelvis In rheumatoid arthritis, there will be multiple joint pain and especially stiffness at morning But as she’s having only knee pains, it might be due to many reasons If she is overweight or due to calcium deficiency or age related degenerative changes So it’s better to take x-ray, both knees of AP and lateral view Avoid sitting with both legs fold, and in floor Meanwhile, can start on Ashwagandha churna Shatavari churna- 1/4 th tsp with warm milk Yograj guggulu Peedantak vati- One tablet twice daily after food with water Mahanarayana taila- ext appn
Stri rasayana vati Yoga raj guggulu/ One tablet twice daily after food with water Ashwagandha churna Shatavari churna- 1/4 th tsp with warm milk at night Dashamoola aristha- 40 teaspoon with equal quantity of water twice daily after food
Yograj guggul 1-0-1 Maharasnadi ghanvati 1-0-1 Astiposhak tablet 1-0-0 All after food with water Avoid sour fermented foods Pidantak oil for applying on affected area twice daily Give dry fomentation on knees
Menopause can sometimes bring about joint pain, including knee pain, due to changes in hormone levels. Estrogen, which tends to decrease during menopause, plays a key role in maintaining joint health. When estrogen levels drop, it can lead to inflammation and pain in the joints. In Ayurveda, we would typically consider vata dosha imbalances, which might cause such symptoms.
First, it’s important to ensure that your mother is getting enough calcium and vitamin D as these nutrients support bone health. Including sesame seeds, almonds, and green leafy vegetables in her diet can be beneficial. Additionally, warm milk at night, with a pinch of turmeric, can aid in reducing inflammation and soothing discomfort.
For a more ayurvedic approach, consider introducing Ashwagandha and Shatavari supplements since these herbs support hormonal balance and can mitigate menopausal symptoms. Bala (Sida cordifolia) oil massage, especially around the knees, might offer relief. Applying warm sesame oil before a warm bath could also help alleviate the pain and calm aggravated vata.
Since the knee pain can be exacerbated by stiffness and lack of mobility, low-impact exercises like walking or gentle yoga poses tailored to her capacity, can improve circulation and flexibility – a regular practice (10-15 minutes daily) might be advantageous.
Moreover, relaxation techniques like deep-breathing or pranayama may balance out stress, which can further help manage pain. Encourage your mother to maintain regular sleep routines, as restorative sleep can markedly aid in hormone regulation and overall well-being.
Although these are general principles, it’s crucial to seek a personalized consultation. This can help tailor these suggestions more closely to your mother’s specific needs. If her bleeding pattern is irregular or poses concern, it’s wise to see a healthcare professional as it could require further investigation.
