how i cured my glaucoma - #23472

Lincoln

I am just feeling really stuck with everything lately. Last year, I was diagnosed with glaucoma, and I was, like, totally freaking out. The pressure in my eyes shot up, and I started having all these weird symptoms like blurry vision and headaches. My doctor immediately put me on drops, but I didn't want to depend on medication forever, you know? So, in my quest, I came across this Ayurvedic approach and decided to give it a shot. I was curious about how I cured my glaucoma. Honestly, I started with changing my diet and added more greens and nuts. I also tried some herbal teas recommended by this Ayurvedic practitioner that focused on eye health. Has anyone else had a similar journey with holistic methods? I can’t shake this anxiety about my vision, and I wonder if these changes are even making a difference. I still have some pressure, and I’m not sure if it’s really working or just wishful thinking. How I cured my glaucoma feels like a stretch right now, but I'm hopeful! Anyone got tips or advice on what else I could do? Would really appreciate any insights!!

The anxiety and uncertainty you’re experiencing with your glaucoma and its holistic treatment approach are understandable, especially as it's about your vision. While I'm all about Ayurveda, I do have to stress that glaucoma is a serious condition, and managing eye pressure is crucial. It's fantastic that you've embraced dietary changes and herbal aids as these can definitely support your journey; however, not saying anything been permanently ‘cured’ without medical supervision. In terms of Ayurveda, each individual’s constitution (prakriti) plays a big role. For something like glaucoma, a focus is often placed on pacifying the Pitta dosha, as Pitta imbalances can manifest through eye issues. Foods that are cooling and not aggravating Pitta can be helpful, so don't skimp on those green and leafy veggies, and avoid excessive spicy, oily, or processed foods. Incorporating Triphala, an Ayurvedic formulation, could also be beneficial, known for its antioxidative properties which is good for eye health. Whether in your diet or as an eye wash (mixed with water), it can help maintain healthy pressure. Consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner about this. Exercise and Pranayama are vital too, not just for physical health, but emotional and mental. Gentle yoga like the Trataka (candle gazing), can be supportive—but remember, you’re looking to ease tension not create strain—so always be gentle. Additionally, routine check-ins with your ophthalmologist shouldn't be avoided. Eye pressure needs to be closely monitored, and any abrupt cessation of prescribed medication should be done only under their guidance. The key with Ayurveda is adjunctive and preventative care, meaning it can help support your treatments, not to replace them. Maintaining a balance of scientific medical management and Ayurvedic practices without isolating either can be the most balanced way to manage your situation. Listen to your body, observe changes, and reach out to health professionals for merging traditional and holistic solutions. Keep hope, but keep caution too.
