I am seriously struggling with my memory lately! Like, last week I couldn't even remember where I put my keys, which is just so irritating. I’m in my late 30s, working a pretty demanding job, and there’s a lot to juggle. I read somewhere about how to increase your memory power, but honestly, I don’t know what to try first. I’ve tried a couple of online tips, like playing brain games, but no luck in really seeing any difference. Some of my colleagues brew these herbal teas to help with focus, and I wonder if that can actually help with how to increase your memory power too. I’m also concerned about my diet — I don’t eat the healthiest all the time. I mean, chocolate and coffee seem to be my go-tos for studying. Do you think changing what I eat can actually improve how to increase your memory power? Would love to hear any personal experiences or advice from you guys! Thanks!

These include fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. Since you enjoy chocolate, consider switching to dark chocolate, which in moderation, contains compounds that may help the brain. For beverages, try reducing coffee, which can sometimes overstimulate, in favor of herbal teas. Brahmi tea is well-regarded in Ayurveda for its ability to enhance cognitive functions, including memory.

Proper digestion is paramount in Ayurveda. If you suspect your agni, or digestive fire, is weak, you can strengthen it by sipping warm water during meals, and avoiding ice-cold beverages. A pinch of ginger and a sprinkle of salt can be an effective pre-meal appetizer to spark digestion.

Sleep is your brain’s natural reset button. Aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep by creating a calming bedtime routine, maybe some light reading or meditation to usher in relaxation. Rest is just as crucial as doing activities to sharpen the mind.

Speaking of activities, meditation isn’t just spiritual — it’s also practical for improving focus and concentration. You can start with a few minutes a day, gradually increasing. Pranayama, or yogic breathing exercises, like Nadi Shodhana, can also clear mental fog.

On the herb front, Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) and Ashwagandha are both highly valued in Ayurveda for memory support. Brahmi improves memory and cognitive performance, while Ashwagandha tackles stress, which can affect memory negatively. You can find these in supplement form, but always consider speaking to an Ayurvedic practitioner to gauge what fits your constitution.

Ultimately, it’s a combination of small shifts that can make a significant impact on your memory and overall mental function. Start with these practical steps, and give it some time, as consistent habits often yield the most noticeable results.
