It seems that the antibiotics and subsequent medication for gastrointestinal issues might have disturbed your digestive fire, or ‘Agni’. In Ayurveda, Agni is central to health, and when it’s disturbed, it can lead to various symptoms, including weak digestion, nausea, and nervous issues.
First, let’s address your digestion: Begin your day with a glass of warm water infused with lemon juice and a touch of honey. This could help in stimulating your Agni. Maintain a light diet, favoring foods that are easy to digest such as kichari - a delicate blend of rice and mung dal. Avoid heavier, spicy, oily or overly processed foods, and try not to eat late in the evening as that strains your digestive system.
For supporting your nervous system, Ashwagandha might be beneficial due to its adaptogenic properties. You can take it in a powdered form, mixed with warm milk or water, preferably at night. However, considering your ankylosing spondylitis, it’s really important to consult your existing medical practitioner before introducing new herbal supplements or changes.
Probiotics can help restore your gut flora after antibiotic treatments, so consider including a small quantity of homemade yogurt into your daily meals. Fermented foods like sauerkraut or kimchi in moderation may also be helpful unless they’re too activating for your condition.
Try Trikatu - an Ayurvedic formula of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper, which assists in digestion. Just a pinch or two of this should be enough, and ideally try to avoid chilly environments, instead, keep your body warm.
For headaches and anxiety, grounding practices like daily pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation may help. Focus particularly on Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) as it balances the doshas and soothes the mind. Gentle neck and shoulder stretches can relieve some tension. If symptoms persist or worsen, promptly consult your healthcare provider, especially considering your pre-existing condition and ongoing treatments. Prioritize safety and avoid anything that might counteract with your current medication.
Considering your symptoms of acidity, nausea, nervous tremors, and digestion issues following antibiotic use, it seems like your system has been through quite a bit of stress. From Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, these disruptions could be linked to an imbalance in your Vata and Pitta doshas, and a weakened agni or digestive fire.
To address these issues, first focus on stabilizing your digestive system. You can start with simple dietary adjustments: consume warm, freshly prepared meals with ingredients that are easy on the stomach such as moong dal or rice. Avoid spicy, oily, or processed foods as they can further aggravate Pitta.
For nausea and bloating, consider sipping on ginger tea throughout the day. Ginger has properties that can help soothe the stomach and get your agni back on track. Additionally, drink warm water with a pinch of pink salt and a bit of lemon juice to naturally regulate your digestion.
For headaches and nervous system issues, incorporating Brahmi or Ashwagandha might support nerve health and reduce stress. However, these should be taken under guidance of a practitioner, especially since you’re undergoing treatment for ankylosing spondylitis.
Try a daily routine of light yoga or gentle stretches which can aid in improving blood flow and help alleviate tension in your nerves. Pranayama, particularly Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing), can balance the nervous system and promote relaxation.
Always re-evaluate with a healthcare provider, especially concerning your ongoing biological treatments. If the headaches or tremors worsen, consult with your doctor immediately to rule out serious complications.
