Kerala Ayurveda Murivenna - #30589
I am really struggling with this persisting pain in my knee, and I've tried so many things!!! About two months ago, I was playing soccer and felt a terrible twist, and ever since then, it's been just awful. I went to a couple of doctors, they suggested physiotherapy and some painkillers, but nothing seems to work. A friend of mine recommended Kerala Ayurveda Murivenna and said it did wonders for his joint pain. I researched a bit and it seems like Murivenna is supposed to be good for injuries and inflammation? But, I’m also worried about using it because I don’t want to mess anything up more than it already is. Should I massage it directly on the affected area? What about any other herbs or treatments that go along with it? Also, is there a proper way to use Kerala Ayurveda Murivenna? Like how often or in what way should it be applied? The last thing I want is to make things worse!! Just looking for some honest advice, really feeling frustrated over this pain. Please let me know if you have experience with Kerala Ayurveda Murivenna or if there’s something else that can help me heal!!

Doctors’ responses
Kerala Ayurveda Murivenna is indeed known for its efficacy in healing injuries and reducing inflammation. Sourced from Kerala traditions, it includes herbs like Karanja, Shatavari, and Kumari which are specifically beneficial for pain relief and healing. Directly applying it to the affected area can often provide relief and support injury recovery.
Start by warming a small amount of Murivenna, which helps in better absorption through the skin. Once warm, gently massage it onto your knee 2 to 3 times a day. Be careful not to apply excessive pressure while massaging, as your knee is sensitive following injury. Use circular motions to help improve circulation in the area. Creful, consistent application can often help significantly reduce pain over time.
For enhanced effect, consider using Ayurvedic herbs like Shallaki and Ashwagandha. These can be taken as supplements under guidance of a healthcare professional familiar with Ayurveda to help reduce inflammation and promote joint health. Moreover, strengthening yoga asanas like Virasana (Hero Pose) and Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Spinal Twist Pose) can facilitate gentle flexibility and recovery, if done without strain. Practicing such asanas with guidance to ensure correct posture is essential.
Alongside Murivenna application, maintain a diet balancing Vata dosha which is often aggravated in joint pain. Include warming spices like ginger, turmeric, and cumin in your meals. Drink warm fluids like herbal teas to support digestion and tissue repair — this indirectly helps in healing your joint faster through effective nutrient absorption.
It’s very important to align any Ayurvedic treatment with ongoing medical advice. If pain persists or worsens despite home treatment, a follow-up with your physician is advisable. Immediate care is vital for any signs of severe inflammation or possible underlying internal injury. Engaging with a knowledgeable Ayurvedic practitioner can help further customize your healing approach tailored to your specific constitution and lifestyle.
Kerala Ayurveda’s Murivenna is indeed renowned for aiding in the healing process of injuries and easing inflammation. Within the realm of Siddha-Ayurveda, Murivenna primarily targets the imbalance in the Vata and Kapha doshas, which are often involved in conditions like yours that involve pain and inflammation. Applying Murivenna directly to the affected area can assist in reducing pain and swelling by enhancing circulation and promoting healing.
When applying Murivenna, warm the oil slightly before you massage it onto your knee. Use gentle, circular motions to allow better absorption into the skin. This can be done twice a day, preferably in the morning and evening, when your body is less active and can fully benefit from the oil’s properties. After application, keep the area warm with a cloth wrap if possible, as this can further assist in relieving pain and swelling.
Additionally, to support overall healing, including herbs such as Ashwagandha or Shallaki can be beneficial. These may help reduce inflammation and support the structural integrity of joints. However, it’s advisable to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before adding any internal supplements to ensure they’re suitable for your individual constitution.
In your case, it would also be crucial to listen to your body; avoid activities that might reinjure your knee, and maintain a lifestyle that minimizes strain. Proper nutrition, adequate rest, and attention to Vata-pacifying practices, like gentle yoga or meditation, can support your healing journey.
Given your described condition, it’s crucial to remain under the care of a healthcare professional to monitor progress and ensure there is no underlying damage requiring urgent attention. Murivenna can be a supportive measure, but follow up with your doctors as well.
