To address high triglycerides effectively, beyond the current herbs you mentioned, we can explore a few additional Ayurvedic strategies. In Ayurveda, controlling triglycerides aligns with balancing agni and ensuring a good metabolic rate. While your husband’s current regimen incorporates a variety of herbs targeting metabolism, liver function, and digestion, the integration of certain lifestyle and dietary modifications could further support this.
Firstly, consider the inclusion of Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) in the form of powder or capsules. Arjuna has cardioprotective properties and can help in reducing triglyceride levels. Taking about 500mg to 1g twice daily with warm water may be beneficial.
Dietary habits play a significant role in managing triglycerides. Encourage a diet that reduces refined carbohydrates and sugars, which can include too much sweet, fried or processed foods, and instead focus on fresh vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins like lentils and pulses. Cook with healthy fats like sesame oil or mustard oil, rather than hydrogenated oils.
Incorporate regular physical activity into his routine, at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily, such as brisk walking or yoga, which help in maintaining healthy lipid levels. Also, ensure he gets adequate sleep, as stress and lack of sleep can contribute to lipid imbalance—7-8 hours is ideal.
Additionally, practicing yoga postures like Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) and Pranayama (breathing exercises) can enhance circulation and metabolism.
It’s important to monitor the effect of these changes and nutritional supplements on your husband’s overall health and discuss with a healthcare professional if any symptoms change or new issues arise. Conduct regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider to check the efficacy of this approach and adjust as needed.
