Managing hypertension, sleep disorders, and back pain simultaneously involves a holistic approach, especially in Ayurveda. It’s essential to address these issues considering the balance of doshas, your body type, and the root causes of these imbalances.
For hypertension, the primary objective should be to calm Vata and Pitta doshas. Regular daily routine and diet adjustments are crucial. Incorporate foods that are cooling and hydrating. Steamed vegetables, particularly those like asparagus and zucchini can be gentle and beneficial. Reduce intake of salty, spicy and oily foods, as these can aggravate Pitta.
Herbal teas such as Brahmi or Ashwagandha may help with calming the nervous system. Try taking Ashwagandha powder (around 1/2 teaspoon) with warm milk before bed. This might also help support your sleep quality and strengthen nerves. Consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new herb, since your current medications must be considered.
For sleep disturbances, practice a night routine that helps to calm and ground. Warm milk with nutmeg or ghee stirred into it can be soothing. Avoid caffeine and electronics at least an hour before bed.
Back pain relief can be tricky due to your allergies to pain killers. Oil massages might be beneficial — Mahanarayan oil or Dhanwantharam oil rubbed gently in circular motions can soothe pain. A heat pad or warm compress could also provide relief. Yoga postures like Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) may support the spine, practice carefully under supervision initially.
In cases of severe pain or any significant changes, do consult with a healthcare provider. Ensure any Ayurvedic practice taken on should always be in tandem with your existing treatments unless advised by professionals.
