Managing diabetes for an extended period and dealing with multiple symptoms can certainly be challenging. Ayurveda offers some complementary strategies that you might find helpful alongside your current allopathy treatments. For diabetes (known in Ayurveda as “Madhumeha”), maintaining a balanced diet and lifestyle is essential. Consider incorporating a diet that pacifies Kapha dosha, such as consuming barley, millets, and legumes, while reducing intake of processed sugars and refined carbohydrates. Avoid heavy, oily foods that can exacerbate Kapha imbalance.

For neuropathy and nerve pain, herbs like Ashwagandha or Bala might be beneficial. These are known for supporting nerve tonic properties. A paste made from Bala can be applied externally to affected areas. Additionally, daily Abhyanga (oil massage) with almond or sesame oil can improve circulation and reduce nerve discomfort. Ensure the oil is warm and apply gentle pressure while massaging.

Sleep disturbances may be addressed through consistency in your sleep routine. Try to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. A warm glass of turmeric milk before bed can be soothing. Herbs like Brahmi or Jatamansi, available in the form of powder or capsules, can also support better sleep and mental clarity. You might find incorporating gentle exercises like yoga or pranayama (breathing exercises) calming, which can also balance mood swings and improve mental focus.

Including Triphala in your daily regimen can aid in digestive health and improve cholesterol management. It can be taken at night with warm water. Furthermore, avoiding stress is crucial, so practicing mindfulness or meditation can be beneficial in managing mood swings and a confused mindset. Always ensure that any Ayurvedic herbs don’t interfere with your current medications by consulting with healthcare professionals before adding them to your regimen.

It’s vital to tackle these issues in an integrated manner, focusing holistically but remain consistent with current prescribed medications. If symptoms persist, seeking professional medical advice would ensure a comprehensive and safe treatment approach.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms could be linked to an imbalance in both vata and pitta doshas, often exacerbated by lifestyle and diet. The neuropathy and nerve pain are particularly associated with vata imbalance, affecting your nervous system. Let’s address each concern step-by-step.

For neuropathy and nerve pain, incorporating herbs like ashwagandha and guggulu can be beneficial. Ashwagandha acts as a nerve tonic and can be taken as a powder mixed with warm milk in the evening. For guggulu, consider a small tablet post meals. Always consult a practitioner to determine proper dosing according to your body’s constitution.

Your sleep issues might be stemming from these doshas affecting your mental peace. Before bed, try massaging your feet with warm sesame oil. This can calm vata and provide relaxation. Nightly routine with a cup of warm turmeric and jaggery milk can also promote better sleep — turmeric helps reduce inflammation while jaggery gives a gentle energy boost and sweetness to ground vata.

Diet should focus on balancing these doshas — favor warm, cooked meals, avoiding cold or overly raw foods which can aggravate vata. Include green leafy vegetables, whole grains, and naturally sweet fruits. Spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric will support digestion and balance pitta.

Mind-related issues like mood swings and confusion may be aided by Brahmi (bacopa) and Shankhapushpi, both in tablet form. They enhance mental clarity and stabilize mood by calming down the fluctuations within your nadis (energy channels). Practice pranayama or simple deep-breathing exercises daily for about 10-15 mins to also calm your minds.

For any persistent symptoms or concerns, closely monitor under the guidance of both your allopathic and Ayurvedic practitioners. This dual approach ensures a more comprehensive handling of your condition without compromising safety.
