To address your present health condition, it is essential to consider the nature of your diabetes and associated symptoms within the Ayurvedic framework. Begin by focusing on balancing Kapha dosha, often linked with diabetes. Gurmar (Gymnema sylvestre) is beneficial, as it helps to control sugar cravings and regulate blood sugar. You can continue with it, but under supervision, ensuring consistent monitoring of glucose levels. Additionally, Nishamlaki—an amalgamation of amla and turmeric—supports reduction of inflammation and enhances insulin sensitivity.

Daily include a diet full of high-fiber foods but low in glycemic index. Opt for whole grains like barley (Yava), oats, brown rice, and vegetables such as bitter melon (karavella), which is very effective reducing blood sugar. These aid in sustaining a balanced diet and controlling blood glucose spikes. Avoid refined sugars and processed foods which can aggravate Kapha. Start your morning with a glass of warm water infused with a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice to support metabolism.

Engage in exercise daily, a minimum of 30 minutes—brisk walking, yoga, or swimming can effectively promote circulation and metabolism. Yoga poses like Paschimottanasana and Ardha Matsyendrasana stimulate the pancreas and support sugar regulation. Regular deep breathing exercises (Pranayama), like Anulom Vilom, help improve cardiovascular efficiency, calming sinus tachycardia.

For hypertension, prioritize relaxation. Meditation for 10 minutes a day can effectively manage stress, which is a catalyst for high blood pressure and vertigo. Engage in routine sleep hygiene by going early to bed and waking up early to align with body’s circadian rhythm. Drink your last liquid about an hour before sleeping.

Consult your healthcare provider before discontinuing metformin or any conventional medication. They’ll help adjust your treatment plan ensuring you won’t jeopardize your health. Regular follow-ups are crucial to reassess your situation and make necessary modifications to your regimen.

Managing an HbA1c of 9.6 indicates elevated blood sugar levels over time, and along with symptoms like blurred vision, vertigo, and high blood pressure, it’s crucial to approach this holistically and carefully. Sinus tachycardia and hypertension require immediate monitoring by a healthcare professional, so maintain regular check-ups.

You’ve begun Gurmar (Gymnema Sylvestre) and Nishamlaki, which can help regulate glucose. Continue with these but always consult your Ayurvedic doctor for the appropriate dosages as self-adjustment can be risky. Gurmar is believed to support healthy blood sugar levels while Nishamlaki, a combination of Amalaki and turmeric, acts as a potent anti-inflammatory.

Dietary adjustments are key. Favor a diet that pacifies Kapha and balances excessive Pitta, which is often linked to metabolic disorders like diabetes and hypertension. Favor fewer simple carbs and sugars. Focus on plenty of green leafy vegetables, whole grains like quinoa and brown rice, and small, regular meals to keep energy levels stable.

Pranayama and light physical activities, like walking or yoga, can help manage stress and improve heart health. However, because of your high BP, be gentle with exertion and avoid activities causing strain. Trataka (candle gazing) might help with vision issues if not causing discomfort, but adjust practice based on comfort levels.

While reducing metformin use might be a goal, don’t change any prescribed medications without discussing it with your physician. They can guide a safe transition plan — abrupt changes can be hazardous. Traditional medicine significantly complements conventional therapies, but ensure all approaches are collaboratively managed with your healthcare team for optimal safety and benefit.
