Dealing with urticaria, or hives, is essentially a reflection of an underlying imbalance in your doshas, often associated with heightened Pitta and Kapha doshas. The sudden onset, particularly at night, points towards these imbalances manifesting through Rakta dhatu, or the blood tissue. To address this Ayurvedically, it’s essential to adopt some dietary and lifestyle changes aimed at pacifying Pitta and Kapha.

Begin with dietary adjustments: Emphasize cooling, light foods. Opt for plenty of fresh fruits such as pears and apples, and vegetables like cucumber and zucchini. Avoid spicy, acidic, or greasy foods, as they likely aggravate Pitta. Dairy, sugary items, and refined flour should be kept to a minimum since they’re known to escalate Kapha. Instead, incorporate warming spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric to improve digestion without overheating the system.

Consider consuming Triphala at night to support digestion and cleanse the system gently—take 1 teaspoon in warm water before sleep. This not only aids digestion but also provides relief through cleansing the blood. Additionally, drinking a cooling herbal tea made with lemongrass or licorice can be beneficial, especially post meals.

For lifestyle, establish a calming nighttime routine to soothe the mind and body. Practice gentle yoga or meditation before bed to reduce stress, a known trigger for urticaria. Use a cooling oil, like coconut or sandalwood oil, applied to the skin can also provice relief from itching. Avoid synthetic fabrics close to the skin during sleep, choosing natural fibers like cotton which allow the skin to breathe.

During episodes of intense itching, a paste made from sandalwood powder and rose water applied to the affected areas can offer temporary relief. It’s crucial to observe whether any external factors like stress, certain foods, or environment trigger these bouts – tracking these might offer insights into specific triggers.

Finally, should these methods offer no relief or should symptoms escalate, consultation with a healthcare provider to rule out deeper underlying issues or allergies is advisable. Immediate medical attention should be sought if there’s swelling of lips, tongue, or throat or if difficulty breathing occurs. Ayurveda complements modern medicine but should be approached with an understanding of when professional medical care is necessay.

Hives, known as urticaria, usually arise from an imbalance in the pitta dosha, along with possible issues in immune response. The sudden itching and rashes at night could be linked to your body’s internal rhythms and environmental allergens or irritants. To address this through Siddha-Ayurvedic principles, we’ll focus on balancing pitta and soothing the skin.

First, try applying a paste of sandalwood and rose water on the affected areas. Sandalwood is renowned for its cooling properties, while rose water helps to calm and reduce inflammation. Mix them into a smooth paste and apply gently on hives; do this before bedtime as it might help with night-time flares.

Internally, you should include Amla (Indian Gooseberry) in your diet. Amla is a potent pitta pacifier and rich in Vitamin C, which can support overall immunity too. You can consume Amla juice in the morning on an empty stomach or include it in your daily meals.

Another recommendation is to avoid pitta-aggravating foods, such as hot spices, sour or fried foods, and caffeine, which can exacerbate your symptoms. Instead, favor cooling foods like cucumber, melon, and coconut water. Foods that soothe the digestive system, like boiled rice, can be beneficial too.

Practicing Yoga can also be helpful. Poses like Shavasana (Corpse Pose) can help mind and body relaxation, reducing stress-related triggers. However, if the symptoms intensify, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional promptly — especially if the hives are accompanied by breathing issues or facial swelling, these could indicate a severe allergic reaction requiring urgent care. Meanwhile, these Siddha-Ayurvedic remedies may assist in easing your discomfort.
