To boost ojas and gain weight, focusing on nourishing the body’s tissues (dhatus) and supporting healthy digestion is essential. The first step is to ensure your agni, or digestive fire, is balanced. Start by including warm, easy-to-digest foods in your diet, like well-cooked grains (such as rice, quinoa), mung dal, and cooked vegetables. Avoid cold, dry, or overly processed foods as they can dampen digestion.
Wheat germ, while nutrient dense, should be taken in moderation. 100g daily is quite a lot. Instead, start with a smaller portion, around 20-30g, and observe how your body responds. You could combine it with milk (warm or room temperature) for added nourishment.
For your cheeks and thin wrists, incorporating healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, and ghee may help. These will provide the necessary oiliness and nourishment your body needs to support tissue growth.
Incorporate daily practices of self-massage with warm sesame oil. This not only helps in improving circulation but also enhances your skin tone and overall sense of well-being. For acne, avoid oily and spicy foods, and consider cooling herbs like neem or coriander to pacify Pitta dosha, which often contributes to skin issues.
Maintain a consistent sleep schedule and get plenty of rest, as this supports ojas and recovery. Ayurvedic herbs such as ashwagandha and shatavari can also support tissue building and are beneficial for ojas, but ensure to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for right dosage.
Remember, your body’s changes will take time. Patience and consistency in these practices are key. And while Brahmacharya is essential for conserving energy, emotions and stress can also affect ojas. Try practices like meditation or yoga to keep a balanced mind. If symptoms persist, reach out to a healthcare professional.
To increase ojas and gain weight, especially at your age, we need to focus on balancing your doshas and nourishing the dhatus. From what you describe, there might be a vata imbalance affecting the rasa and mamsa dhatus (the first two tissue layers related to nourishment and muscle). Let’s start with some practical steps:
1. Diet: Include more kapha-increasing foods, which are anabolic and help build tissues. Opt for dishes like kitchari (a mix of rice and lentils), and incorporate ghee for its ojas-enhancing properties. You can use around 1-2 teaspoon of ghee daily in your meals.
2. Wheat Germ: It’s nutrient-dense and can be beneficial, though 100g might be too much. Start with 20-30g daily as part of a balanced diet. It’s best taken with breakfast or as a small snack. Not just focus on this, ensure a varied diet rich in proteins and complex carbohydrates.
3. Butter & Almonds: They are ojas-enhancing. Try having soaked and peeled almonds, around 5 to 8, as a morning snack. Homemade butter or ghee can be taken in small quantities, like a teaspoon drizzled over meals.
4. Herbs: Ashwagandha is excellent for building strength and increasing ojas. You could take it as a powder mixed in warm milk in the evening, about 1/2 teaspoon.
5. Lifestyle: Regular sleep routine is crucial since sleep profoundly affects ojas. Target 7-9 hours of sleep, maintain a consistent schedule.
6. Acne: Apply sandalwood paste mixed with rose water to the acne-prone areas. Use twice a day for its cooling and pitta-pacifying benefits.
Avoid excessive physical exertion or stress, as both deplete ojas.
If the condition doesn’t improve or if you notice significant changes, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner is recommended. They can provide a precise diagnosis based on your prakriti and current balance.
