Seeking Safe Ways to Manage Lymphoedema - #49392
I have lymphoedema and I’m looking for safe ways to reduce inflammation and swelling in my leg. I’m currently using gentle daily compression (properly fitted stockings or wraps), elevation above heart level when resting, and light movement like walking and ankle pumps to help lymph flow. I’m also focusing on good skin care (moisturizing, avoiding cuts, treating fungal infections quickly) to prevent infections that can worsen swelling. I’d like guidance on manual lymphatic drainage and whether complete decongestive therapy (CDT) with a certified lymphedema therapist is appropriate. Please advise which options are safest and most effective for my situation.

Doctors' responses
Complete decongestive therapy (CDT): Yes—recommended for your situation. It’s the gold standard and combines MLD, optimized compression, exercise, and skin care. Early treatment (like now) is especially effective. -MLD works best as part of CDT, not alone.
