In 8 months pregnancy, cough treatment must be very gentle and safe for baby. Strong Ayurvedic medicines, detox, or herbs that stimulate uterus should NOT be used. Since cough is persistent for 2 months, first rule out serious causes like reflux, allergy, asthma, or infection. If blood tests are normal, usually pregnancy-related immunity, reflux, or allergy can cause Please consulting the Pulmonologist and safe Dr RC BAMS MS

Hello I get how difficult it is to have a bad cough during your 8th month, especially since all your tests are coming back fine and home remedies aren’t working. Even just a little cough can wear you out, make your belly hurt, and stress you out when you’re this far along—so, we gotta be gentle and safe with any treatment What Ayurveda Says Near the end of pregnancy, Vata and Kapha get stirred up because: – Your baby and uterus are pushing on things – It’s harder for your lungs to expand – Your throat and airways get dry – Your digestion isn’t at its best This can cause a dry, annoying cough that hangs around even if you’re not actually sick. Since your blood work is all good and you don’t have a fever or any phlegm, it sounds like this cough is just from how your body is working right now, not from an infection. *What We’re Trying to Do& – Make your throat and lungs feel better – Calm down the cough – Keep your baby safe – Skip any strong or risky stuff Safe Ayurvedic Stuff for Pregnancy These are totally okay to use in your last trimester if you take the right amount: 1. Sitopaladi Churna: ½ teaspoon with honey, three times a day This is pretty good for coughs during pregnancy 2. Yashtimadhu (Mulethi) Churna: ½ teaspoon with warm water before bed This will help your throat and stop the dry cough What You Can Do at Home (This matters a lot!) Steam: Breathe in steam once a day, either plain or with a bit of ajwain. DIET PLANAVOID – Cold water – Ice cream – Yogurt – Citrus – Spicy foods – Fried stuff INCLUDE – Warm milk – Rice porridge – Ghee – Dates – Stewed apples – Moong dal soup Only drink warm water Really ImportantAVOID – Trikatu – Vasa – Kantakari – Pushkarmool – Strong cough syrups These aren’t safe when you’re pregnant. Your baby’s fine. This cough is just because pregnancy can make your airways more sensitive, not because you’re sick. With a little help from the stuff above, it should get better on its own without hurting you or the baby. Hope you have an easy and healthy delivery! Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

HELLO, Since you are 8 months pregnant, safety is the top priority. A persistent cough for 2 months during pregnancy - especially when it is very severe and disputing daily life- needs careful evaluation. Even if blood reports are normal, chronic cough in late pregnancy is commonly due to -acid reflux (very common in 3rd trimester) -allergic airway sensitivity -post viral cough -mild asthma variant -gastric irritation causing throat reflex cough In Ayurveda , this condition is mostly vata-kaph predominant kasa (cough) aggrvataed by -urdhwaga Amla pitta (acid reflux) -prana vata disturbance -kapha dryness in chest Since there is no fever,no phlegm, no infection signs, it is likely dry vata-kapha cough In 8th moth, strong herbs and detox are strictly contraindicated MANAGEMENT MUST BE -gentle -pregnancy safe -vata shamak -mild kapha balancing INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) SITOPALADI CHURNA= 1/4 tsp mixed with pure honey twice daily after meals =soothes throat, reduces dry cough, safe ) 2) YASHTIMADHU CHURNA= 1/4 tsp with warm milk once daily at night =excellent for chronic dry cough 3) PRAVAL PISHTI= 125 mg twice daily with honey after meals =helps acid reflux induced cough MOST IMPORTANT- TREAT HIDDEN REFLUX (very common at 8 months) Even with out acidity symptoms, reflux can trigger severe cough DO -eat small frequent meals -avoid lying down for 2 hours after food -avoid sour, fried, spicy foods -avoid milk at night if it worsens cough -sleep withhead elevated This alone improves 50% of chronic pregnancy cough SAFE HOME REMEDIES 1) Warm water sipping all day -add 1 pinch dry ginger -1 pinch ajwain boil well, sip warm 2) Ghee therapy (very effective for vata cough) -1 tsp cow ghee in warm milk at bedtime =lubricates airway and reduces dry cough reflux 3) STEAM INHALATION -Plain water only -nostrong oils EXTERNAL THERAPY Gentle chest oil massage -warm sesame oil + pinch of rock salt massage lightl before bath MOST LIKELY CAUSE IN YOUR CASE Since -8 months pregnant -severe persistent cough -no infection -no triggers DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
