Enlargement of the liver and spleen, along with a blackish discoloration of the tongue and left-sided abdominal pain, suggests an underlying imbalance in Pitta and Kapha doshas, potentially indicating chronic liver disease or congestion. This condition may be associated with the accumulation of toxins (Ama) and inflammation in the body. To address this, I recommend Arogyavardhini Vati to support liver health and detoxify the liver. Additionally, Punarnava Mandur is effective for reducing spleen enlargement and improving overall liver function. Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata) is beneficial for its hepatoprotective properties, while Bhringraj can help improve liver health. Incorporate a Pitta-pacifying diet, focusing on fresh vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, while avoiding fatty, spicy, and processed foods. Drinking warm water with lemon and coriander can aid digestion and detoxification. Regular follow-up with an Ayurvedic practitioner is essential for personalized treatment and monitoring of your condition.
Okay, so you’ve got some concerns, and rightfully so. Enlarge liver and spleen, medically termed as hepatosplenomegaly, can definitely raise some flags. There can be multiple reasons for this—could be from infections, liver disease, or hematological disorders. But let’s dive a bit into how Ayurveda might view this.
Ayurveda looks at your constitution, or prakriti, and imbalances in your doshas—Vata, Pitta, Kapha. The enlargement could relate to Pitta dosha imbalances affecting the liver, possibly due to excessive heat or toxins (ama) accumulation. Blackish discoloration on the tongue can sometimes represent ama or poor digestive fire (agni).
First thing, dial down any spicy, oily, or fried foods—these aggravate Pitta. Make your diet more Pitta-pacifying: think cool, light, and naturally sweet foods. Try including juicy fruits like ripe pears or melons, bitter greens like spinach, or moderating your cumin, coriander, and fennel intake.
Including toxin-reducing herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Kutki known for liver support—take advice on the exact dosage from your local herbal specialist, though!
Stay hydrated! Lukewarm water with a squeeze of lemon might be great after meals, helping in sustaining the digestive fire balancing act.
Go easy with your physical activities but keep moderate movement as part of your routine, maybe some gentle yoga poses like the “Supported Fish Pose” to aid digestion.
About that stomach pain, don’t ignore it if it stays intense or grows. A physician might need to check further. Ayurveda, while supportive, works best in unison with routine medical care in such issues. Let’s not wait too long on any unexplained pain or changes, as peace of mind (and health!) comes first, yeah? 🙏
Remember, all of this would ideally be tailored further based on your specific case; an in-person consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner possibly cross-checking modern diagnostics could be worthwhile. Take care!
