Thank you for explaining your condition in detail. Yes… ofcourse we can cure thyroid without allopathic medicines. Hypothyroidism with bloating and stubborn weight gain often points towards mandagni (slow metabolism), ama accumulation, and hormonal imbalance. The approach will focus on Agni deepana (boosting metabolism), Ama pachana (toxin clearance), and Medohara (fat metabolism), while supporting thyroid function with safe Ayurvedic herbs and nutrition.

Recommended Investigations

1. Thyroid profile – TSH, Free T3, Free T4 (to assess function and track progress) 2. Anti-TPO antibodies – to check for autoimmune thyroiditis 3. Ultrasound Neck – to evaluate thyroid gland size/texture 4. Fasting Blood Sugar and ppbs to check insulin resistance 5. Lipid profile – for metabolic health

Internal Medicine

Ama Pachana & Agni Deepana for 7 days

1. Trikatu churna – 1 g with warm water after meals, twice daily. 2. Hinguvashtaka churna – pinch with first bite of meals to reduce bloating and vata. 3. Guduchi kwatha 15 ml with 30ml of warm water twice daily before food.

After 7 days for Thyroid Support & Medohara Take this medicine for 30 days

1. Kanchanara guggulu – 2 tablets twice daily after food with warm water.

2. Varanadi kashayam – 15 ml with 30 ml warm water, ½ hour before food, twice daily.

3. Punarnavadi mandoor – twice daily after food (supports metabolism & reduces swelling).

After 30 days start these medicine for 7 days Rasayana & Hormonal Balance

1. Ashwagandha churna – 3 g with warm water or milk at bedtime.

2. Shatavari churna – 3 g with warm water in the morning (balances hormones).

Diet & Nutrition Tips

Avoid

Cold, heavy, oily, processed foods Excess dairy, refined sugar, soy products Wheat-based refined products (opt for millets instead)

Include

Warm jeera–ajwain–dhania water throughout the day Leafy greens, drumstick leaves, bitter gourd, bottle gourd Millets (ragi, jowar, bajra), red rice, quinoa in place of white rice Herbal teas with ginger, tulsi, cinnamon Small, frequent meals instead of long fasting for better metabolism

Lifestyle Modifications

Sleep: Maintain fixed sleep schedule despite work shifts; sleep in a dark, quiet room.

Exercise: Brisk walk 30 min daily + light strength training 3 days/week.

Yoga for Thyroid: Sarvangasana, Matsyasana, Bhujangasana, Ustrasana (avoid inversion if you have high BP or neck issues).

Pranayama: Bhastrika and Anulom Vilom, 5–10 min twice daily.

Practice Abhyanga (warm sesame oil massage) twice weekly to improve circulation & metabolism. Follow up after 45 days

May your metabolism regain balance, bloating reduce, and weight normalize naturally. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for follow-up or adjustment in medicines.

With kind regards, Dr. Sumi

In addressing thyroid imbalance through Ayurveda, it’s essential to understand your dosha imbalances and how they relate to your symptoms. Based on your mention of bloating, weight gain, and trouble losing weight, it’s likely there is an imbalance in your Kapha dosha, which tends to increase heaviness and sluggishness in the body.

To start with herbs that benefit thyroid health, introduce Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) into your daily routine. Known for supporting the thyroid gland and boosting metabolism, you might take 500mg daily, either as a capsule or you can mix 1/2 teaspoon with warm water in the evening. Another beneficial herb is Guggul (Commiphora mukul), particularly effective in stimulating thyroid function and aiding in weight management. Consider taking 25mg of a standardized guggul extract twice a day, after meals.

From a nutritional perspective, focus on foods that pacify Kapha such as warm, light, and dry foods. Begin your day with a warm, ginger tea to stimulate agni (digestive fire). Incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly leafy greens, carrots, and cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and cauliflower, but cook them lightly to aid digestion. Avoid processed foods, excessive sweets, and salty snacks.

Do not forget eating at regular intervals to maintain metabolism, even if you’re doing intermittent fasting, make sure your non-fasting period includes balanced meals. Sip warm water throughout the day to aid digestion and avoid cold or iced drinks as they dampen the digestive fire.

For lifestyle changes, integrate daily exercise like brisk walking or yoga. This helps to activate your lymphatic system and stimulate metabolic processes. Pranayama practices, such as Kapalbhati and Bhastrika, can also be very supportive – try dedicating 5-10 minutes every morning for these.

Lastly, address bloating by adding fennel seeds post-meal. You can chew a small teaspoon after each main meal to reduce bloating and facilitate digestion. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting new supplements or drastic lifestyle changes, especially with thyroid conditions, to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Thyroid issues can indeed be supported through Ayurvedic treatments, though it’s important to understand it as a complex condition that requires careful attention. In Ayurveda, thyroid problems often link to imbalances in the vata-pitta-kapha doshas, particularly affecting the metabolic fire or agni. Addressing the root cause including diet and specific herbs is crucial.

For herbs, you might consider Kanchanar Guggulu, which can help balance the thyroid function and support metabolic processes. Ashwagandha is often recommended for its adaptogenic properties, enhancing thyroid hormone production. However, it’s vital to consult with a practitioner before taking any formulations, given their potency and individualized effects.

Regarding your diet, emphasizing a kapha-pacifying regimen can be beneficial. Incorporate light, warm meals that’re easy to digest. Include ginger and turmeric to improve digestion and metabolism, assisting with bloating, and avoid heavy, oily, and cold foods. Regularly consume whole grains and fresh vegetables but limit intake of goitrogenic foods like soy products and raw cruciferous vegetables as they can interfere with thyroid function if consumed in excess.

For your bloating, eating at consistent times, avoiding raw foods at night, and focusing on mindful chewing can improve agni and reduce digestive discomfort. Drink warm water or herbal teas, such as ginger or cumin-coriander-fennel blend, which can relieve bloating and aid digestion.

Intermittent fasting can be beneficial for some, but in your case, ensure you’re not aggravating vata by skipping meals too frequently. Instead, focus on balanced meals that sustain energy levels throughout the day. Always monitor your thyroid levels regularly and work closely with an Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor treatment effectively and safely. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking conventional medical attention is essential for comprehensive management.
