How to reduce acne marks and acnes - #27002

Hello doctor, I have very sensitive and reactive skin. I am allergic to most chemical ingredients and also some natural ones like turmeric, milk, and curd. My skin type is oily-combination – my T-zone is oily, and the rest of my face is balanced/normal. Recently, I used Dr. Sheth’s Haldi cream and a hyaluronic acid sunscreen, and after that, I developed a lot of pimples. Currently, my face has dullness, active acne, post-acne marks, low hydration, and tanning. My skin reacts easily, and I am very scared to try new products because of past bad reactions. I also consulted an Ayurvedic doctor, who prescribed Epderm ointment and Guloocyadi Kashaya tablets. Could you please check and suggest a safe treatment and skincare routine for my skin type and sensitivity?

For sensitive, reactive skin like yours, it’s crucial to address issues with Ayurveda’s gentle approach. Given your allergies, avoiding turmeric and dairy in your skincare is wise. It seems your Pitta and Kapha doshas are imbalanced, contributing to the oily T-zone and reactive skin.

First, prioritize balancing your diet to support the skin’s health. Avoid hot, spicy, and oily foods, which aggravate Pitta and Kapha. Favor a diet rich in fresh fruits, cooked vegetables, and whole grains. Drinking warm herbal teas such as licorice tea can help soothe the skin from the inside out. Aim to hydrate throughout the day with water infused with tulsi (holy basil) or ginger, just ensure it’s not too hot for your digestion.

For a gentle cleansing routine, use chickpea flour (besan) mixed with rose water to cleanse your face once or twice daily. Besan helps control the oiliness without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Follow this with a calming aloe vera gel application to soothe inflammation. Avoid heavy or occlusive creams; instead, use a light, hydrating serum with aloevera base for non-irritating moisture.

Consider applying Kumkumadi Tailam before bedtime, as long as a patch test shows no adverse reactions. This will support skin renewal, and reduce post-acne marks. Apply it to clean, damp skin – just a few drops are enough, massaged in lightly.

Limit direct sun exposure and wear a wide-brim hat if outdoors to avoid further tanning. Instead of chemical sunscreens, consider physical sunscreens (zinc-based) that won’t irritate your skin.

Avoid overly complicated routines and give each new product or routine a time of 2-3 weeks to properly evaluate its effect on your skin. It’s wise to continue with your prescribed Kashaya tablets. These approaches should be in harmony with your body’s needs, supporting gradual healing and balance.

Considering your sensitive, combination skin and your reactions to various substances, addressing the root cause through a simple and targeted Ayurvedic routine is essential. Focus on balancing excess Pitta and minimizing any Vata-Kapha imbalance as these often impact skin health.

Start your day by cleansing your face gently with gram flour (besan) – its mild cleansing properties are suitable for sensitive skins. Mix one tablespoon of gram flour with rose water to create a paste and apply it to your face, gently massage, and rinse with lukewarm water.

Since you’re allergic to turmeric, steer clear of it, but you can use neem and sandalwood instead. Prepare a face pack using 1 teaspoon of neem powder, a pinch of sandalwood powder, and rose water to form a paste. Apply it to affected areas in the evening for 10-15 minutes and rinse it off. Neem helps in reducing active acne, while sandalwood cools and soothes the skin.

For post-acne marks and tanning, apply aloe vera gel (ensure it’s pure, without added chemicals) at night before bedtime. Aloe vera assists in lightening marks and hydrating the skin.

Diet is crucial – maintain a diet rich in fruits, leafy greens, and whole grains to enhance your Agni and detoxify. Avoid spicy, oily, and processed foods that aggravate Pitta dosha. Staying hydrated with warm water aids in detoxification.

Regarding prescribed medication, it’s always advisable to follow your Ayurvedic doctor’s advice closely. However, share any side effects with them promptly for reassessment.

Test any new product on a small area of your skin first – keep it simple and natural. If conditions persist or worsen, seek immediate medical attention as it ensures a tailored, responsive approach to your sensitivities.
