HELLO SUNIL KUMAR,

FOR VITILIGO

In Ayurveda, vitiligo is categorised as “SWITRA” or “KILASA” , which refers to skin discolouration caused by an imbalance of doshas, particularly pitta( governs heat, metabolism, and pigmentation ) and sometimes kapha(governs stability and moisture). The disease is considered tridoshaja ( involving all three doshas), but with pitta dominance because pitta controls melanin or pigmentation in the skin.

ROOT CAUSES -improper diet- e.g; milk with fish, sour+ milk- viruddha ahara - poor digestion- leads to toxin buildup - emotional stress- aggravates doshas and autoimmune response -long term use of harsh medicines - vitamin and mineral deficiencies(especially B12, D, COPPER)

TREATMENT GOAL -stop the spread -detox the body -stimulate pigmentation - support long term skin healing -prevent recurrence - stop new spots, re-pigment exist ones, restore confidence and skin health naturally

START INTERNALLY WITH

1) BAKUCHI CHURNA- 125 mg once daily slowly increase to 250 mg with honey or ghee in morning = stimulates melanocytes

2) KHADIRARISHTA- 20 ml with equal water after lunch and dinner = detoxifies blood, clears skin

3) AROGYAVARDHINI VATI- 1 tab twice daily after meals = improves liver and metabolism

4) MAHAMANJISTHADI KASHAYA- 15ml with water twice daily before meals = anti-inflammatory, blood cleanser

5) GUDUCHI TABELTS- 1 tab twice a day in morning and night = builds immunity, reduces autoimmune reaction

6) RASAMANIKYA- 65 mg with honey in morning = stimulate pigmentation(best one )

LOCAL APPLICATIONS

1) BAKUCHI TAILA+ GOMUTRA - apply directly on spots , sit in early morning sun-10 mins, then wash

2) MANJISTHA+ NEEM+ TURMERIC+ BAKUCHI CHURNA PASTE - make a paste with rose water or aloevera gel apply for 20 mins then rinse = helps purify skin and reduce spread

3) NEEM OIL + COCONUT OIL(50:50)- apply at night = soothes skin, reduces inflammation

DIETARY GUIDLINESS TO FOLLOW STRICTLY

AVOID -milk+ sour fruits like orange, lemon - milk+ salt or salty snacks - fish + milk -curd, panner- especially at night - fermented foods- bread, vinegar, pickles -junk food, chocolates, cola, chips

INCLUDE -FRUITS=apple, papaya, pomegranate, jamun, figs -VEGETABLES= pumpkin, ash gourd, spinach, carrots -PROTEINS= moong dal , tofu, soaked almonds, ghee -SUPERFOODS= amla, turmeric, black pepper, sesame seeds -BUTTERMILK

DRINK warm water, avoid ice cold drinks. cook fresh food. try to eat at the same time daily.

LIFESTYLE AND MIND MANAGEMENT

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= balances all doshas, calms stress -SHEETALI/ SHEETKARI- cools pitta, soothes mind -Bhramari- calms nervous system and skin

OTHER -sleep by 10 pm -morning sun exposure for 10-15 min - avoid exposure to chemical creams, fairness products - try trakata(candle gazing) to stabilise mind and reduce emotional triggers

HEALING TIMELINES

1-2 MONTHS= skin health improves, new spots stop 3-6 MONTHS= light re-pigmentation starts 6-12 MONTHS= visible color returns in patches

This all are epilepsy safe drugs

Dear Sunil Kumar Thank you for sharing your concerns in detail.

Your symptoms of gradually spreading white patches (Shvitra / Kilasa – vitiligo) on the legs and other body parts, along with hair fall, indicate a Tridoshic imbalance with predominance of Pitta and Kapha, leading to disturbance in Rakta and Mamsa Dhatu. In Ayurveda, such white patches are described as arising due to impaired Agni (metabolism), toxin accumulation (Ama), and imbalance in skin pigmentation channels (Bhrajaka Pitta).

The slower spread in the legs compared to other areas suggests deeper Dhatu involvement there. Hair fall points to Rakta Dhatu depletion and Vata aggravation.

Vitiligo (Shvitra) is considered manageable and arrestable, though complete reversal depends on chronicity, depth, and individual constitution. Ayurveda focuses on stopping spread, stimulating pigment, and strengthening immunity. Time required varies — early and superficial patches may show improvement in 3–6 months, while older/chronic patches may need 9–18 months of consistent treatment.

Recommended Investigations

1. CBC & ESR – to rule out inflammation. 2. Thyroid profile (TSH, T3, T4) – as thyroid imbalance can aggravate vitiligo & hair fall. 3. Vitamin D3 & B12 levels. 4. Blood sugar (FBS, PPBS) – as metabolic imbalance can worsen condition.

Internal Medicines

Stage 1 – Detox & Pitta–Kapha Balance (First 6–8 weeks)

1. Arogyavardhini Vati – 2 tabs twice daily after meals (liver & skin metabolism). 2. Gandhak Rasayan – 1 tab twice daily after meals (blood purifier & skin healer). 3. Panchtikta Ghrita Guggulu – 2 tabs twice daily after meals (skin & immunity support). 4. Avipattikar Churna – ½ tsp with warm water at night (balances Pitta & improves digestion).

Stage 2 – Pigment Stimulation & Dhatu Nourishment (From week 9 onwards)

1. Bakuchi Churna – 250 mg with honey once daily (supports melanin activity; only under supervision). 2. Kaishore Guggulu – 2 tabs twice daily after meals (blood purifier & chronic skin disease support). 3. Narasimha Rasayanam – 1 tsp twice daily after meals with warm water or milk substitute (for hair fall & skin nourishment).

External Applications

1. Bakuchi Taila (Psoralea oil) – Apply gently over white patches in morning sun exposure for 5–10 min only (not more, to avoid burns). 2. Kumkumadi Taila or Neelibringadi Taila – For scalp massage 2–3 times weekly to reduce hair fall and nourish roots.

Diet & Lifestyle Tips

Avoid:

1.Milk & milk products taken with salty/sour foods. 2.Excess curd, fish, non-veg, alcohol. 3.Sour fruits (orange, lemon, tamarind) in large amounts. 4.Fermented, stale, or junk foods.

Include:

1.Green leafy vegetables, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, bitter gourd. 2.Pomegranate, figs, dates, black sesame, soaked almonds. 3.Regular use of cow’s ghee in small quantity. 4.Wheat, barley, moong dal.

Lifestyle:

1.Follow strict meal timings; avoid day sleep. 2.Gentle sun exposure (early morning) helps pigment activation. 3.Practice Pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari, Kapalabhati – 10 min each daily). 4.Stress management is very important as stress can worsen vitiligo.

With consistent treatment, Ayurveda aims to slow down and stop the spread, gradually bring pigmentation back, and reduce hair fall. Early cases respond better and faster. I recommend at least 6 months of therapy with regular follow-up.

Please feel free to share updates for further guidance and adjustment of medicines.

With kind regards, Dr. Sumi

HELLO SUNIL KUMAR ,

I understand your concern. You are noticing gradually developing white patches on your legs and some other parts of your body, and you also have hair fall. From what you describe, this looks like a condition called Shwitra in Ayurveda, which in modern terms is similar to vitiligo or hypopigmentation.

The cause in Ayurveda is often linked to Vata-Pitta imbalance along with dhatu (tissue) depletion and sometimes Ama (toxins). White patches occur because the pigment-producing cells in the skin are not functioning properly. Hair fall can also happen alongside this if the body’s Rakta (blood) and Mamsa (muscle) dhatu are weak. The good news is that Ayurveda can help stop the spread of these patches, restore skin color gradually, and reduce hair fall if treated consistently. However, it is a slow process, and it usually takes 3–12 months depending on the severity, duration, and your body’s response.

Treatment approach: Amapachana (detoxification) – first we clear any toxins in your system that can aggravate skin and hair issues.

Internal medicines – to balance Vata-Pitta, nourish skin, and restore pigmentation.

External therapies – oils and pastes applied to the white patches help in pigmentation and prevent spread.

Hair care – nourishing oils and herbal support for hair roots.

Ayurvedic Prescription: Amapachana (first 5 days): Triphala Churna 3g with warm water before meals twice daily. Internal medicine (after Amapachana): Vishagandha Vati / Kalyanaka Ghrita – 2 tablets twice daily after meals (for skin pigmentation and immunity). Manjishtha Churna 3g with warm milk once daily (supports blood and skin health).

External therapy: Bakuchi Tailam / Chandana Tailam applied gently on white patches once daily. Mild sun exposure for 10–15 minutes daily in morning hours can help in pigmentation.

Hair care: Massage scalp with Bhringraj oil twice a week to strengthen hair roots. Include Amalaki Churna 1 tsp with warm water twice daily to nourish hair and body.

Diet & lifestyle suggestions: Eat fresh, warm, and easily digestible food. Include green vegetables, fruits like amla, pomegranate, and nuts. Avoid excess fried, sour, and processed foods. Practice gentle yoga and meditation to balance Vata-Pitta. Avoid chemical hair products and harsh soaps on affected areas.

Investigations to consider: Blood tests for complete blood count, liver, kidney function, and thyroid. Vitamin B12 and D levels (low levels can affect pigmentation and hair health).

Before starting treatment: Please let me know about your bowel habits, appetite, urination, sleep, as these help in planning the right medicine and dosage.

With consistent treatment and proper care, the spread of white patches can stop, some repigmentation can appear, and hair fall will reduce. Patience is important, and results are gradual.

Warm regards, Dr. Karthika

Prevention

To help prevent and treat vaginal discharge:

Keep your genital area clean and dry. Avoid soap and rinse with water only. Sitting in a warm, but not hot, bath may help your symptoms.

Avoid douching. Although many women feel cleaner if they douche after menstruation or intercourse, it may actually worsen vaginal discharge because it removes healthy bacteria lining the vagina that protect against infection.

Eat yogurt with live cultures or take Lactobacillus acidophilus tablets when you are on antibiotics to prevent a yeast infection.

Use condoms to avoid catching or spreading sexually transmitted infection (STI).

Avoid using feminine hygiene sprays, fragrances, or powders in the genital area.

Avoid wearing extremely tight-fitting pants or shorts, which may cause irritation.

Wear cotton underwear or cotton-crotch pantyhose. Avoid underwear made of silk or nylon, because these materials are not very absorbant and restrict air flow. This can increase sweating in the genital area, which can cause irritation.

Use pads and not tampons.

Keep your blood sugar levels under good control if you have diabetes.

1 pushyanuga churna -3 gm+Pradarantaka rasa-125mg+ vanga bhasma-125mg+spatika bhasma-500mg+shuddha gandhaka-250mg mix and take in morning

Vitiligo, or leucoderma, presents as white patches on your skin, and its treatment within Ayurveda focuses on rebalancing doshas and improving digestive health. The pigment loss can vary in different parts of the body, often progressing slowly. While Ayurveda doesn’t claim to “cure” vitiligo entirely like conventional medicine seeks, it offers ways to manage the condition and potentially moderate it over time. The duration can vary greatly from person to person; patience and consistency are key components.

Ayurveda suggests a multi-faceted approach. First, maintain a pitta-pacifying diet, as vitiligo often associates with imbalanced pitta dosha. Avoid sour, spicy, fermented foods, and prefer cooling, soothing foods like cucumber, ghee, and fresh vegetables. A good digestive fire (agni) is vital; consume spices like turmeric and coriander to support digestion.

Herbal remedies may include bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia), known for stimulating pigmentation, however it’s essential to test for any skin sensitivity first. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and neem are beneficial for their cleansing properties. Ayurevdic formulations like Arogyavardhini vati or Vasa vati might support general detoxification, but always consult a professional for personalized advice.

For hair fall, various factors like stress, nutritional deficiency, or dosha imbalance could be at play. Include foods rich in protein and iron, like amla and sesame seeds, which are known to promote hair health. Apply Bhringraj oil or coconut oil infused with rosemary to scalp, massaging gently to enhance circulation.

Consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor this guidance specially for you, ensuring it aligns with your constitution and lifestyle. Remember, consistency and lifestyle adjustments are crucial in managing these conditions. Also, for progressing vitiligo or significant hair loss, it is wise to consult a dermatologist or healthcare professional alongside Ayurvedic practices.

Vitiligo or leucoderma, characterized by white patches on the skin, is a challenging condition to address fully, but with an ayurvedic approach, management and improvement are possible. In Ayurveda, this condition is often linked with an imbalance in the doshas, particularly pitta and vata, which can disrupt the body’s natural pigmentation process.

The approach involves dietary, lifestyle recommendations, and herbal remedies. First, it’s crucial to maintain a specific diet to balance pitta, avoiding spicy and sour foods, excessive salt, and fermented products. Instead, focus on foods that promote cooling and stability, such as sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Ghee, for instance, is beneficial for its cooling and nourishing effects.

Herbs like Bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia) are traditionally used to support skin pigmentation. Bakuchi oil or in powdered form might be applied topically mixed in a carrier oil or consumed cautiously under professional guidance. Additionally, the regular consumption of Neem may help detoxify and improve skin health. Always make sure to consult an ayurvedic specialist before beginning with these herbs to understand suitable dosages.

The condition’s response can vary, and visible changes might take few months to manifest. Consistent practice and discipline with these methods are crucial. Notably, if patches spread rapidly or cover large body areas, prompt clinical evaluation is advised to rule out other potential conditions.

For your hair fall issue, consider addressing it by nourishing the scalp with Bhringraj oil or Amla. These can fortify the hair and reduce hair fall significantly, supporting healthy regrowth.

Access to a knowledgeable practitioner is key to ensuring these recommendations harmonize with your entire constitution. Each person’s prakriti differs, and tailored advice based on comprehensive assessment is valuable. Balancing your agni (digestive fire) and managing stress are integral parts of this holistic approach. With due diligence, you can target the root causes effectively while nurturing your general well-being.

HELLO SUNIL,

Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks melanocytes- cells that produce melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color, this results in white patches on the skin

COMMON CAUSES -genetics- family history - nutritional deficiencies-especially vitamin b12, D, copper, zinc - autoimmune disorders-thyroid issues - stress-emotional or physical trauma - skin injury or sunburn -chemical exposure

In Ayurveda vitiligo is referred to as shwitra(a type of kushta roga- skin disease), mainly caused by imbalance of the pitta dosha, combined with kapha and vata involvement.

PATHOGENESIS- viruddha ahara(incompatible food), excessive consumption of sour, salty, fermented food, or mental stress leads to accumulation of toxins(ama) and vitiation of blood and skin tissues.

INTERNALLY START WITH

1) SOMARAJI GHRITA- 2 tsp o emoty stomach with warm water/mik =detoxifies liver, promotes melanocyte regeneration , very effective in chronic cases.

2) RAS MANIKYA WITH GUDUCHI SATVA- 60mg + 1/2 tsp with honey =controls autoimmune response, improves skin tone

3) SWARNA MAKSHIK BHASMA- 125 mg with honey at night = helps improve liver function and immunity

6) MAHAMANJISTHADI KASHAYA- 20 ml with water twice daily after meals =useful in skin disease including eczema, vitiligo

can also go for panchakrma = virechana and raktamokshana at panchakarma clinic

EXTERNAL APPLICATION

1) BAKUCHI OIL- apply on affected area once a day -after applying expose to mild early morning sunlight 15 mins

2) KUMKUMADI TAILA- safe facial oil to improve skin tone =apply at night

DIET -eat black gram, green leafy veggies -amla, pomegrante, beetroot, carrot - whole grains, ghee

AVOID -curd, fish with milk, fermented foods, citrus fruits in excess -non vegetarian food, alcohol, smoking, processed foods -cold water bath and harsh cosmetics

STRESS MANAGEMENT -practice pranayam daily- anulom vilom, brahmari - meditation reduces cortisol and may help prevent progression - Can take brahmi vati- 1 tab at night for anxiety reduction

Vitiligo treatments take time. Ayurvedic therapies take 3-6 months or more to show visible improvement
